We both had jeeps before we married, had jeeps together, and then went Jeepless for a few years to raise kids. To celebrate 25 years of marriage and an empty nest we decided to gift ourselves with a new 2011 JK. We don’t want anything that looks “monster truck-ish” or “hummer-esque” and knowing that we never want a trailer queen or dedicated trail rig, we are intentionally keeping the modifications and upgrades on the conservative side. Our mods were meant to be dual purposed, making it capable off road but keeping it stable and comfortable on road.

Here is "Sarge", my 2013 JK Rubicon in Commando Green. I am considering this my Stage 1.5 build since it decidedly more than just a budget boost lift and new wheels, but also falls short of a 4" long arm lift and 35+" tires (...someday...).
From the onset, the goal of the JK was to have a capable, dual purpose (daily driver and trail) rig. All mods have been done 100% myself and have involved methodical research to execute the build (including the budget, look and emphasis on capability) that I wanted. So far I am completely happy, but also already planning on the next stage of the build!
Since picking it up in December of 2012 (stock and lightly used with 1900 miles on it before being traded in by the first owner for a JKU) there has been a flurry of activity in garage and nearly daily visits from UPS in order to get it ready for EJS and Moab. Having survived that, we have since had it through the mud and rocks of Oregon's Tillimook Forrest and most recently up and down various gulches, cliff hugging trails and vistas in Hells Canyon, OR. Upcoming is a stop at the dunes along the Oregon coast and more treks to the Cascades. Many more adventures await us and I am loving every minute with the JK (yeah..even those that involve wrenches, bloody knuckles, and the occasional expletive).
This month I am trying different pictures to show off the different looks of "Sarge" including playing on the Moab slickrock with the "winter" hardtop, sporting the "summer" Trextop and mud in Tillimook, and nearly naked with the trail doors and safari top over looking the Imanha River in the Hell's Canyon Rec. Area.

I am building a jeep on a budget while attending college and doing all I can to put together a very well built jeep while keeping the price down. I am on the never ending goal of beating the Just Empty Every Pocket stereotype of jeep but even when I get a deal on one thing I just buy more with the extra money in my pocket! Although I continue to fail I love spending time working on the jeep and wheeling with new people! I am also new to the forum and hope to continue to meet new people and come in with a bang! Story (optional): I managed to spend 3 years researching various
lifts/tires/configurations for my JK purchase. I had spent the past 13
years fantasizing about wranglers and Toyotas going offroad with
various lifts throughout the years. Basically everything from BB
lifts to solid axle swaps. I finally had enough money to buy a new
wrangler so I decided I would go all out and get exactly what I
wanted. So I started searching for a 2013 wrangler 4 door unlimited
rubicon with 4:10 gears since I knew I was going to go to 35's
immediately. I couldn't find any so ordered one from the factory
which coincided with the same time I was getting back from
Afghanistan. My Rubicon arrived at the dealer about 5 days before I
returned which was a great relief. With 250 miles on the JKUR, I had
the lift/wheels/armour installed.

We’ve been wheeling for several years and all the kids have TJs and I have nicely built 6-speed Rubi LJ called the Filthy-Beast. Wife’s arthritis was making it hard for her to drive the stick so we got the Beauty, an auto 2013 JK Unlimited Rubicon. Being new to the JK scene I spent 4 months researching and ordering parts and then about 2 months building. I love the reaction I get at off-roading events, people assume it’s a mall crawler and spotters assume that I will take the by-pass. My favorite comment after climbing up a nasty hill was “Wow you made that look easy, where’s the guide wire that pulled you up”. Future mods include building up to be able to run 37s, sports cage, half doors.

Kazman, I really like the Commando Green color and am envious of the pictures and great trails that you run. But this month, I have to give my vote to BlkOpsRubi. I may be biased, but with the Supercharger and now with the trail cage, it's extremely capable on the trail. Maybe BlkOps should be painted OD, then it would be perfect to me!

I know it's a little counter-intuitive for most people voting in this contest but AveCat gets my vote. He is using a stock Jeep to work and that's not often that people do that on here before throwing heaps of cash into their Jeep.
