on board air

Looking at on board air systems. Can anyone show me some setups of where yours is mounted. And any suggestions on systems would be great. Im looking for one that will wire into the jeep, support front amd rear lockers and can also run a hose to fill a tire or use a tool.

I use a Power Tank mount to the driver side rear side. I use it to run ARB lockers, fill tires, run my impact tool set and to weld under CO2 when needed...fills a lot of needs for me.

I had have a York, AC compressor based, OBA on my LJ but sadly cannot find a way to do that on a JK. so I've been looking at the ARB Dual or a Viair system with brake booster bracket. With either system you'll need a manifold for your air lockers. I like the ARB because of the 100% duty cycle and higher air flow rates. but you have to be more creative in the mounting of it.

I have a bracket that holds an extra AC compressor (York) on one of our JKs as part of an OBA system. I don't recall the manufacturer. I'll post pics on Saturday.

Here are pics of my PT install, air locker switches, and the manifold setup (I have replaced the red electrical hose with a reflective tape wrapped water heater hose for better thermal protection down side of engine - and also relocated it to the farthest point from the heat source....don't ask my why):

what he's showing is not a compressor, it's a CO2 tank with a regulator. when empty you'll need to get it refilled.

It's not a bad solution many people prefer them. I just have heard in my area it's pain in the butt to get a single small tank refilled.

My 4x4 shop is a PT dealer and they fill it for 15 bucks which can last me all summer for air ups. The impact tools, at 4cfm, would drain it pretty fast, but when I use them I only spin them for a couple of seconds...how often have you seen an impact tool turned on for a full minute? More like 4 or 5 seconds for me - I can get all lug nuts for a single wheel off in less than 30 seconds of use...welding, well that depends on how much you do. But it is easy for me to get a refill so that does make it easier on me than others. I also have an older spare tank just in case I run out in the shop.
