Black Diamond 2 in W/Shocks or Teraflex AT 2.5 W/Shocks

OK
As most of you already know I am getting a 08 Rubicon in the next few weeks. This is a daily driver and a road queen. When offroad it will be on very light trails so nothing serious... Anyway I want a small lift as I like the look and am going to put 33's on it but I want the BEST ON ROAD ride possible! After listening and reading I think I am going to be better off with new shocks instead of just shock adapters.

Why should I go with the Teraflex over the BD?
The BD will give me the height I need for the tires.

From what I saw on Quadratec the lifts are complete and everything you need in the box. The BD is cheaper.

So...
Why one over the other?
Is ones shocks going to be better for on road use than the other?

Or am I wrong and the new shocks wont improve the ride over adapters?

Are you sure the BD lift comes with shocks? I was just looking at the Quad. website and found a 2" BB from Black D for $144? or something really close to that, with out shocks.

Are you going with a BB? Or a coil replacement lift?

In the JK lift kit shoot out (previous issue of petersen 4WD magazine and one other), the Teraflex lift was considered the cadallic as far as ride quality went. The kit used for the comparison was thier 3" lift kit, coil spring replacement.

I don't suppose there is any online source of the lift kit shoot out? I would love to read it since I'm starting to plan a lift too.

Black Diamond 2" Lift Kit with AT Shocks for 07-08 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK 296.99 from Wuad

Both of these keep the factory springs...

I really dont care about the extra couple inches of travel from the shocks as I wont be in places where I am likely to need that but I am doing the shocks as I am under the impression this will improve the ride quality on the streets....

I am just considering the BD as a friend has their 3 in lift and swears by it!
He wheels quite a bit though.

I am just trying to find out which is going to give me the most level Jeep and the best ride quality.
I do plan on adding and aftermarket front bumper somewhere down the line

My Black Diamond 3" kit rides awesome even with 37" tires. Their basic AT shocks are great on and off road.

Wish there was someone that had experience with both to get a comparison of on road ride quality...

I have heard great things about both...
I have not heard a negative about either so its really tough to decide!

Hey RedRockJK, Was it a PIA to install the 1 inch body lift? Im thinking of going with a 2.5 then the 1 inch. I kinda like that idea. Thanks

It's easy. You just need a floor jack and some 2x4's, and about an hours time. It's a pretty basic job.

Yes, if all you want are 33" tires, the 1" M.O.R.E. body lift will work great, and you will keep your stock ride.

Apparrently there is:

September 2007 JK Suspension Test <-- click here

This is the JPMagazine's version of the same shootout. I believe the author of this article was one of the test drivers.

Enjoy.

WOW
Brandwise they really praised the BD ride!!!

I guess I could get away with the 1 in M.O.R.E. pucks but
arent I going to get a much better ride using the Black Diamond and their shocks?

I'd much rather take ground clearance over being able to fit just 33's.

BD 2" with shocks is your best bet.
