I understand that the mesh bikini is supposed to be "cooler" than the solid top. Does anyone know if black is the only colour available in mesh tops? Would a black mesh top still be cooler than a light solid top?

Yeah, judging by the look of the weather report, you must be baking up there eh?

OK Brickhead, or is it Yoda? "Even without a library card" anyone can give last weeks weather report. Besides, so I made a mistake and posted on the wrong forum. I wasn't talking about bikini tops for jeeps.

Black is the only mesh top color I have seen, but have not tried one yet so I can't speak for the cooler part...

Thanks Mike,
This is our first jeep (about a month ago) so that's why I asked the questions that probably have obvious answers to most jeep owners. Actually Bricktop hit the nail on the head with our recent weather but it will get warmer (I think). We had a couple of nice days and I removed the hardtop but I'm still debating which bikini top to purchase (for the jeep Ha Ha Ha).

I was thinking bikini top (on the Jeep) for a while as well, but I'm in upstate NY and it probably won't get a lot of use I'm afraid !!

Quadratec has several styles in black and Khaki im sure theres more just have to look harder for them. You didn't mention 2-4 dr. Im sure a quick google will get you others. There are several jeep mod dealers out there.

2Dr 2008 Rescue Green Sahara.
Scotty, I'm aware of the khaki but I think it is only available in solid bikini tops.
This is why I am asking how the black mesh (that would attract the sun) but allow the wind through it, would compare with the light khaki (that wouldn't attract the heat as much) but might??? trap more heat than the mesh.
Sorry guys/gals if these are "stupid" questions.

Here it is in Khaki. For the price it doesn't seem worth it. Im not even sure what this is as there's no pic. Its talking about a hard top but gives the breezy open air feel without the issues with sun. Comes with a left and right side panel.
Good Luck
Scotty

I was just messin witcha. The "stayin cool" in 50-60 degree weather just struck me as funny. I kinda like "Brickhead" though...maybe I'll change it. Or a good name Yoda is, maybe change it to that I will.

I imagine that is exactly what a solid one (even khaki) would do. I would only go with a solid bikini top if I planned on having my doors off when I used it. Otherwise I'd go with the mesh. I imagine that with the windows down and the mesh top you'd get pretty good circulation.

Bricktop,
I took no offence whatsoever. As a matter of fact my wife got a big laugh out of "your weather report" and thought it was quite funny. On the other hand, I couldn't just sit there and miss the opportunity to exercise my (very) dry sense of humour now could I?
I do hope in some small way I can contribute and help in the future. I am working on a Baltic Birch, carpet covered "storage trunk" that can be locked in place to the brackets on the lower back/bottom of the rear seat in the 2008 Wrangler with header type hasps.
All the best,
Allan
