Thanks. The light bar is made by MBRP and it goes on the stock bumper.

Did you install the MBRP yourself? I don't wheel much and don't need an extra hundred pounds and spring upgrade for the sake of swapping one bumper for another. I love the look and could use some extra lights but I'm not a hard core do it yourselfer...

Real easy to do yourself. weighs not more than 10lbs. It won't weigh you front end down at all. Real light. Check out there web site. MBRP Inc Performance Exhaust - Snowmobile, Diesel, Muscle Car, Exotic, Motorcycle and Sport Truck Exhaust Systems.

If it were me and you were choosing between the Duratrac and BFG KO's, I would choose the Duratrac's. They are just as quiet and just as good off road and they are more aggressive looking. If you want to go the MT route, then it would be between BFG KM2 or the Goodyear MTR with Kevlar. Both are still quiet on the road and you get more capability off road and even more aggressive stance.

For 90% on road I would go with BFG A/Ts.

I also like the GoodYear Duratracs, though have not owned them personally.

Must admit that I prefer to support GoodYear [American] if they carry the tire I need and then BFG as a solid product [think it's French - Michelin owned].

Personally don't like the Asian tires - Nittos or Kumhos. For some reason, the Nittos (Terra Grapplers) look like show car tires with a shallow tread.

I have GY Duratracs and I love them. Haven't had them very long, but we had 4 inches of snow a little over a week ago and they performed very well. They are quiet and they look a lot more aggressive than the KOs. (My coworker has the same size KOs). Pictures don't do them justice. You have to go take a look at them in person. Good lookin tire. Had them on some light trails (old loggin roads) and they were great...

The Duratracs seem to have a tread design a bit closer to off-road, while the BFG KO looks a bit more AT, followed by Nitto TG with a more street friendly tread. That's just my take on looking at the tread designs. I suppose it's always a trade off. Higher treadblocks with wider grooving: better off-road but less contact on dry asphalt. Anyway, I'm liking the Duratrac's availability at my local tireshop, and the way they look. Will post photos in a few days.. my rims arrive tomorrow..

Thanks again,
GJ

Pretty good choice. I still haven't pulled the trigger, but I am either going with the Duratrac or the GY MTR with Kevlar.

If you wheel your Jeep go with the duratracs. If you see more street then go with the BFG or Nitto.
I am currently running Duratracs and have owned BFG A/Ts. The Duratrac is much more agressive than the BFG's almost to the point where I don't think it is fair to compare them offroad. On road however the BFG's are quieter and as far as I remember better in the rain. My duratracs were dead queit ... until I got some wear on them and adjusted the air pressure for even wear. Now they make a light humm going down the road. Nothing all like a swamper or pure MT tire but it is there. Duratracs have proven tougher as well. I used to get flats quite a bit with the BFG's. I have sheared lugs completely in half on one of my rear Duratracs for about 1/2 the way around the tire and it still holds air no issue. MY old BFG's would have never stood up to that.

The Goodyear site says the Dura's are "pinned for winter studding". Seems that would imply that the treadblocks are stiffer and higher and allow for the pinning. Just wondering what the pins are made of. The diagram shows the pin as sort of a "mini rawl-plug" or anchor plug you'd use to hold a screw in a brick. If caught in an ice-storm, wonder how hard it would be to throw a few dozen pins in each tire to give you that extra edge and get you home.

By the way, are all these contenders two ply sidewalls?

I debated for a while and went with the Duratracs 315/70/17s. So far I am extremely pleased. They are dead silent compared to the stock wheels but I am sure they will get loader with some wear.

I try to buy American as much as possible, but I make an exception here, I buy the BFG because they donate money to keep our trails open...
