Bestop safari bikini top with Bestop door surrounds

I have searched high and low and found lots of fun info on these things but I have a question. Has anyone tried cutting off the rain gutters on the door surrounds to make the bikini top fit? They are completely useless with the bikini top and look to be the reason the bikini top is a couple inches too small.

I've tried letting it heat up in the sun, heating it up, stretching it out with friends and I've got nothing.

I'll never be getting a soft top so I see those gutters as just being a pain in the ***

I'm having the same problem. I called Bestop and she pretty much told me I was screwed and that it the header bikini top works well without it actually being IN the door surrounds. She verified I had all the right equipment and gave me some BS about manufacturing tolerances for the stitching of the bikini top.

My top is at least 2 inches short of being wide enough even after sitting in direct sunlight on a day like today where it's 85 degrees here. I've pulled ans stretched the heck out of that thing even used a screwdriver no luck.

I got my bikini top, windjammer and cargo cover on Thursday, let it stretch out and tried to install it Saturday... terrible fit, huge gap between the door and bikini top, I shipped it back to 4wheelparts this afternoon

Any of you guys trying to install it in lieu of the hard top (without soft top factory hardware?)

I'm curious to see if the fit is still sketchy without the extra pieces in the way....

I ordered a vdp cool breeze bikini top from Quadratec and the thing doesn't even remotely fit lol. I'll be sending it back. It's absolutely crap manufacturing and I can't believe Quadratec would even put their name on it. On one side it fits perfectly on the other side the plastic channel is about 3 inches too long! I only comment because I feel your frustration with the quality issue!

I have a 2010 with the 2010 bikini and bestop door surrounds...

It doesn't really work that well but part of the issue is the wrap on the bikini on the roll bar is to long and interferes with the door surround screws. Also bar that goes across from surround to surround has no spot. Next time my g/f is in town I am going to see if she can cut a slot in for the bar and shorten the wrap around so that it will fit better. (She sew's as a hobby).

I'm sure it will help out a bit, at least get the wrinkles out... if not I am going to buy 09 mopar surrounds with a 07-09 bikini...

If you need any specific pictures I can go take some tonight/tomorrow.

I have these on my Jeep. They are indeed a pain to get on. My hands were hurting the next day from installing. But I will say that they do fit. The fit is very very tight but they will go on. It took a total of maybe 5 minutes to get it started and then almost 4 hours of getting pissed off and needing a breather before I finally got it on.

I was thinking about getting a safari top, windjammer, deck cover combo but this thread has me thinking I may just stick with the oem soft top.

If you are 4dr go with an off road heroes top if you can be very very patient on a delivery wait.

WTF.......isn't this a problem Bestop should be paying attention to?

I'm glad this forum is around. The Bestop bikini was going to be my next purchase...

I think they filed this one in the " I don't give a s#*t" folder. My duster deck cover is awesome though. Don't understand why they can't make the top correctly.
