Bent Steering Wheel?

My new Baby, sssshhh she's sleeping.

Is the steering wheel supposed to be slightly bent? It is hard to tell but it feels a bit weird when rotating it after turns. Here is a few pics:

Here are some pics of the other problems with my brand new jeep:
Warning lights on:

Missing floor mats:

Center console bolts missing:

Broken tray thingy:

It feels good to vent. The dealer should take care of all this right? This is my first new car so I am not sure what to expect.

Thanks
JBean

Nice color. 2dr's always look good.

Put a straight edge on another JK steering wheel for comparison.

All the issues in your pics should be covered on such a new vehicle.

You shouldn't have to, but do a close inspection on the entire vehicle for other items.

Damn, if I got a new vehicle like that, I'd be p'd off.

Don't know if it's possible, but I'd be telling them I want a different vehicle now. Check the shocks for missing bolts too, that seems to be a problem now and then. I'd be concerned about missing nuts and bolts in critical areas.

if you "preview" an image before uploading you can rotate it.
right click it and "preview". at the bottom you can rotate it or just open it up in paint and click on "image" then rotate it there

tray shouldnt be cracked.
just checked my steering wheel. you're fine
bolts should be there. its brand new!!
floor mats could be an option. check the sticker and see if it is listed. if not, out of luck
hit the ESP button, if the lights do not turn off, take it to the dealer and *****. its brand new!! shouldnt be on

Nice color! Welcome, and like everyone said, don't worry your dealer will take care of it. Make a list, your covered bumper to bumper for a while.

great! Thanks for all the help guys. I have to go back to the dealer anyway because he was trying to get me a lower interest rate. I really wish there was a class you could take on buying a new vehicle. I did all kinds of research but when you get in there your so happy to be getting a new car and they are rushing through stuff that you dont pay much attention. I have to find out what a "service contract: is as it is an additional $1900 I probably dont need.

Another thig is I though the hardtop came off in more pieces so I thought I could take it off myself and store it in my apartment. I wonder if the will take back the hard top and put on the soft one. Im in central texas so putting down the top is required by law i think, lol.

I would not have even taken delivery of the vehicle with obvious stuff like that - take it back and demand it be fixed.

If you put on a mad face, they'll fix it. Shouldn't be a problem. My fuse box cover was broken with the heated seat install, they also replaced that for free when i complained.

I think floor mats are an option though, check that on your window sticker.

yeah im pretty much a dofus when it comes to shopping, I just get too excited.

JBean

Just checked the sticker and the floormats are standard, so is the soft top. They installed the hardtop at the dealership so maybe they will take it back and give me the softtop.

Im trying to accept the steering wheel feel but its just too weird so I went to check it out some more. I found out that if you put something upagainst the steering wheel and turn it around it will deflect from 0.5 to 0.75 inches.

I imagin there should not be any deflection. When turning a corner you can really feel it as you let go of the wheel and let it spin back to center. I dont think the wheel is bent though cause I started looking at the side of the steering wheel and it doesnt look like it is mounted right.

This may also be causing my ESP-BAS, airbag, trac control lights and inop horn due to the clock spring being in that there area. Quality control at the Jeep plant seems to be lacking.

Anyways back to the Jeep dealer tomorrow.

Looks like you got that Friday Afternoon, last one off the line for the weekend model that some people end up with.

Or it is one that was test driven and returned with a few missing parts. I worked at a Toyota dealership for a while and this happens when someone is too cheap to buy a $4 part.

OP, keep us updated, a good dealership should not have let that leave in that shape.

I'd say you just got some valuable experience buying a new vehicle. Next time when you want a new vehicle go through it before you make an offer, not to mention buy it and take it home, anything you buy new should be 100% perfect or no purchase. Or some nice discounts and I'll fix it myself. You'd be surprised how many people just want to get it home and don't ever end up getting these things fixed. They know every one of the issues you have brought up and just hoped you'd go away. Stand your ground and I'm sure they'll take care of it. Nice Wrangler!

The more I think about this the more I think the dealer is at fault more than Jeep. Does anyone know the check-in procedure for when a vehicle comes in to a dealer? I know at Toyota off the truck cars would have warning lights and what not on and the techs would have to set the cars up when they were prepping them to go on the lot.
