jk mods - b_c

...been out of town training on a new erp system install.

anyway, while i was gone some things i ordered off of ebay and the web came in...(i feel this is just the beginning)

^mine. just about as stock as you can get:

2008 jk unlimited x-s
6spd
manual windows
manual locks
16" wheels w/ street crawlers (p225/75r16)
hardtop
a/c
cd player w/ aux input
d30/d44 w/ 3.21's

so on with the mods, eh?

mod 1: REAR TOW HOOK...if you notice in the list and pic above, i have no recovery points ...with the kix i have, that would be just asking for trouble.

ebay ($20.51 total w/ shipping)

mod 2: PHILIPS X-TREME POWER +80...i have a stigmatism. not a bad one, but it's hard for me to see without squinting to focus. hopefully these will help

suvlightsDOTcom ($51.00 total w/ shipping)

they'll both be installed tomorrow, after i get back from picking up mod 3...here's a hint: it rhymes with moft top

Yeah, I started off with small mods. But the addiction quickly took over, and the dollars just flowed out of my pockets

Good start on the mods. $300 for a new soft-top. How did you manage that? It doesnít look like you have front tow points from the pic though. That would be another priority if youíre going to be off-roading. Very important. Good luck and have fun.

Damm, itís a curse. I need to fix things around the house and should also be paying down my credit cards but instead my money goes to my Jeep. Oh, if I only had a brain.

heheh...a little out of order, but what the hell...

mod 4: FRONT TOW HOOKS - see above ^ ...this was that lil something something that i picked up from my dad earlier. i was able to get his discount

Dealership $58.58 (w/ tax)

mod 3: NIB MOPAR SOFT TOP - this is a good story for this forum, b/c ya'll actually helped me find this. i was reading a post, can't remember the name and it mentioned something about craigslist selling used/new jeep parts for cheap. so i went to my local towns listings... and in the first few listings on the page saw a listing for a jeep soft top for a 2008 unlimited that was coming off a rubicon. i called the number and talked to a lady. i told her i was out of town in chicago, but would be very interested in giving her something in advance for her to hold it for me...nancy said she didn't need the soft top b/c her rubicon came with the dual top combo...said it had been sitting upstairs for half a year...and even though they do take their hard top off they never saw any use for the soft top. she refused any money down, but told me that she would take the listing off and hold it for me until i got back in town. these people, tim and nancy were top notch, and kept their word. when i got there they showed me their motorcycles, their rubicon; i stood and talked to tim for a good hour about jeeps, places to go, careers (we're both in the oil patch), etc...good people.

anyway...got it all...(even the brackets that were pre-installed on their rubicon's roll bars in the back.

craigslist ($300, plus time and gas)

going outside in a minute, any tips on headlight adjustment?

Congrats dude! The mod bug has officially bitten you... prepare for the worst! And you get points for being smart and getting recovery points first!

On a wheeling trip I was just on one of the rigs didn't have points and had to wrap a strap around the front axle to be winched up a couple obstacles

Keep the mods goin!

here's the adjustment:

got as close as possible and found my centers.

backed up 25ft...notice they're a little low and not matching.

used t15 drive to line them up to where the top of the beam just touched center line

...so anyone know about the lamp replacement? what to do?

Pull the 5 or 6 plastic screws that hold the grill on and then the whole grill complete with headlamps will drop forward and you can get to them. If they don't just screw out you can put a small knife or screwdriver under them and lever slightly while unscrewing.
