Yet Another Update!

I just finished changing out the Alloy USA ball joints for a set of Synergy ball joints.
If you're just tuning in, I installed the Alloy USA joints about a month ago and they never felt right. They were very tight to start with and though they did loosen up over time I was not able to keep control of my Jeep on the freeway. I put over 500 miles on them just driving city streets hoping that they would eventually break in. They didn't and I couldn't stand it any more.
I decided to order a set of Synergy ball joints from Poly Performance and I'm glad I did. I've only driven up the block and back though I can already feel a huge difference! They don't feel like any "break in" is necessary and I hope to drive the freeway to work in the morning for the first time in a month
I'll give one more up-date after a real test drive then it's time for the ultimate test on Thursday with a ride out to the Hammers

Glad to hear the synergy units feel better. I had zero issues with mine and drove it at 65-70mph as soon as they were in.

Any word from alloy USA?

I'll email Baseline 4x4 tomorrow and find out what they want me to do with them.
I'm not sure if they will warranty them or if I will need to go through Alloy USA.

I'm glad the Synergy ball joints worked out for you. I'd hate to give a recommendation and have that product turn out worse than before. I really like most everything that Polly Performance puts out.

Final up-date!

The ride to and from work was flawless. Freeway and street driving felt like a proper steering system with no pulling or tight feeling at all.

Never got to install mine, went to the hospital (another heart attack) instead. Just got home today but it will be a few days more before I get to them because I have to take it easy for a short while.

That’s good news Jim that the synergy’s worked out for you, I’m hoping for the same results with mine when I finally get them changed.

Thank you John (DBA2GO) and I think that’s what I’ll do. It’s just going to be a strange feeling having someone else do things like that for me on my Jeep. My daughter’s boyfriend wants to do them for me so I’m going take his kind offer. I’ll just get a chair and watch and snap some pics.

Good for you and those (synergy) have been the most popular ones to get for quite a while now. Will have mine installed in a few days as soon as I get a day worked out. Let us know how yours go when you’re done.

I just installed the Alloy USA ones in our XJ with JK Rubicon axles. Old ones lasted @5yrs with 37's and lockers, so not too bad.
After finishing the install, it's our routine of the missus driving the rig while I put my toys away in the shop.
Not good. I drove it, Not good.
Proceeded to get the caster/camber gauge out, and measured the toe in. All as it was when I set up the front end.
Then I came on here and searched for isues, and up pops this thread!
Even running a PSC hydro assist setup, it wonders terribly at highway speeds.
Told the missus to drive it around town and then I will regrease the joints to see how they are. If no good, will order the synergy ones I guess. I work away from home, so she has to slum it an drive the Heep instead of one of the Range Rovers...
Will update this when I get back home.
Has anyone run the Alloy USA ones successfully?

Martin
