I have 2012 Sahara Unlimited with factory auto start integrated into the key fob.
Can someone explain to me why my rear defrost light keeps coming on when I use my keyfob's autostart function? I have made a point of having it off, when I have locked up the vehicle. (i.e., was not left in the on position)
Is the defrost connected somehow to the outside temp?
In trying to problem solve the situation, I've tried auto-starting the Jeep when the fan/heat has been off entirely, and still the rear defrost light shows up.
Before I take the Jeep in to be looked at, I was wondering if this is just something unique to my Jeep or to any others with the Autostart.

I've just noticed it coming on, (last winter here in Windsor it was quite mild). Wasn't sure if something had "shorted-out"...
I can totally understand the reasoning, why it comes in chilly temps.
Thanks again for those that replied!
I appreciate it!
I noticed this on my new 13 Sahara - I think I have figured it out. If you have the fan setting to defrost before you get out (which I do in the winter all the time) the auto start will turn on the defroster. But any other setting seems to not. Kind of cool (and smart). But not at all explained in the manual.
