Any tips for black Jeep washing and drying?

Any tips for BLACK Jeep washing and drying? I mean the water spots are murder, even drying in the shade.

Thanks.

All I've ever done is take it to a local manual hp spray washer. I use the spotless rinse at the end and hit the windows/mirrors with windex. No spots after that. Just be sure it's thoroughly rinsed and you shouldn't have a problem. Also if you haven't drilled your sideview mirror posts, then you'll wanna go ahead and do it. The white streak it leaves is nasty looking on the black.

your water spots may not be because ur not dryin it right. this happens to vehicles specailly black that stay on the lot. due to rain is usually contaminated with chemicals form the atmosphere if left on a vehicle for long periods of time they will etch the paint and be permanent. granted they are not deep and are easy to get off but it just takes more than a simple wash and wax you need to get a polish to get them off. other than that everything naples said is true. invest in a great product like Zaino for polihing and waxing ur vehicle.

Water spots are bad especially after you've spent the time to hand wash and hand dry each week cause if you don't there they are.

We tried I think it was an amoral car wash product and thought maybe it was that that was leaving behind the white spots so we started to towel dry it off each week. Then we changed products and it still does it. Gave it a coat of wax but am still towel drying it off after each bath. Good thing there's not much to it. I never towel dried off my cherokee or our Dodge 2500 which is also black.

But it really looks sharp after it's all cleaned and dried off one would never guess that it spends as much time in the dirt as on the pavement.

I use two things when drying my cars, and have for years.....

1) leaf blower first

2) using a quick detail spray (I use: http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-45-detail-spray.aspx), spray a few light pumps just before drying with a waffle weave microfiber drying cloth

I don't know what's wrong with you folks, but once my Unlimited Rubi gets here, black, I intend to wash it by running it thru every god damned muddy place I can find and turning on the windshield wipers.

Hey Dude, there is a product on the market made by Mr. Clean. It is a complete wash deal. You attach it to your hose, put soap in it, and it has a filter you adjust to when you give the final rinse. No spots! I have a black vehical and it works great. It is available in most hardware stores or Wally World.

wash with a wool mit and dry with microfiber towel or of the same You will still have marks from the water. just take a spray wax or detailer and wipe it off with a nice clean t- shirt after that . It will look super black with no steaks. I have had black cars all my life and they always still look new after ten years of driving everyday, Its pretty crazy. One more very important thing, before you wash start off with washing your wheel wells and and tires with a different soap bucket then you would the paint. I usaully use an old dish sponge and dish soap for the tires and fender wells . Then dump it out, wash the bucket and start with cleaning the paint DO NOT USE DISH SOAP. make sure you shine up the wheel wells as this will make it look new. Oh yeah forgot to say once you are done washing the paint, shine up all the plastics/rubber you plan on, that way when you go to spray the detailer on it will clean off all the overspray carried by the wind onto the paint. Now step back and enjoy the view of your hard work and crack open a beer, enjoy! very sparatic instuctions

washing black

i use a very clean bucket and micro fiber towels. start with a very cool vehicle, engine cold and no sun. a bit of pamolive in a bucket with warm water. add your micro fiber towel with a bit more pamolive, the green kind only. rinse the vehicle off well with your hose. start at the top and wash the vehicle being sure to rinse and wash only small sections at a time. sometimes i add a bit of white vinegar to my soap. or you can take a windex bottle and a mixture of a bit of white vinegar and warm water to the water spots after washing. i always wash my black in a straight manner not circular like most bottles say. i dry it off with another damp micro towel. i also use one of the dusters to take the dust off between washings but i think that it might leave minor scratches so i usually hose it and wash all over again. i have a friend who puts a bit of baby oil in his water. i have never tried that but the green pamolive works great, especially on bugs. i already did this but then saw it on an AOL page just recently on the best ways to wash a vehicle. also.................we have a friend who owns a harley shop and honda shop. they make a special wax for 4 wheelers that you spray on and wipe off. its a mist. no hard wax. i think its called bright? its green. thats what they use to mist off the 4 wheelers when people touch them etc. he has 3 black trucks and this is what he uses. all his trucks look brand new. email me if you would like me to get the exact name of it. pooksybear@aol.com also.....................i am searching right now for anyone who is missing as much paint on their black jeep as my 2007 4wd 4dr sahara unlimited. around the hinges and on the inside of the doors as well as around the headlights it shows major primer where the paint was never applied and i am extremely pissed. i looked at the 08 black and other colors. it seems that some of the problem might be corrected BUT its def. worse on the black. take a look. im calling chrysler monday!
