another 33/35 decision and does the gear chart actually suggest....

I've been researching running 33's and 35's with my Teraflex performance leveling kit. On the gear ratio chart posted on popular links/will it rub, am I reading it correctly that 35's will actually yield better gas mileage (yellow color on chart)? I know that 35's will basically eliminate 6th gear (stock Rubi 4.10 gearing) and make acceleration slower, but is this true about MPG? I thought the added weight would act opposite.

Anyone currently run the performance leveling kit and 33's or 35's and have an opinion/preference? I'm not looking to go back to my 3.07 and 33 set-up that I had on my TJ, but those were some fond memories.

Thanks in advance for your input

The 3.8 engine with 4.10 and 35s will be a dog and no way will the MPG improve with 35s vs. 33s. If you go with 35s the stock flares will get crunched at full flex.

I didn't see how that was correct either. I would have to upgrade fenders (or trim stock) for sure. Bushwacker is REALLY proud of their $600 plastic, but they do look nice / function better. Thanks for the input NCB.

Gear charts are based off of RPM's at a given speed for a certain size tire. They don't take into consideration needing to down shift to a lower gear due to loss of power from the larger tires, climbing a hill, or driving against a head wind.

If you do not have the power to maintain the given speed in 6th gear or OD, the gear chart is basically useless to determine fuel mileage and performance.
