I sold my 2 door JK and purchased a 4 door for this exact reason!
I wasnt a fan of 4 doors at first but after owning one I absolutely love it! I think that chrysler made the 2 doors difficult to access in the rear as an effort to increase sales of the 4 door models!
It has taken a while to get used to the turning radius offroad and re-learn what type of terrain I can get over without hanging up on the skid plates since I have driven short wheel base wranglers for the past 16 years!

Have both the JK and a WK.
More room in the JK, but not significantly. Door entry/exit access is MILES better in the Grand when they are fully opened, but I can usually open the Wrangler doors more in tighter areas.
There is slightly more width in the Grand. We notice it mostly when we put an adult in the middle of the two car seats and they need to buckle in.
The kids like the JK tons more, although nothing beats that 6.1L V8 on the highway.

The new 4 door jeeps should also have the metal loops under the back rest to fasten the car seats too.Do they have these,my 04 Grand has them.I thought all new vehicles were required to have them.

A four door would fix that issue hands down. It would be a lot easier to not only put your kids in the back seat but it will be a lot easier for adults to get in and out to. It soooooooo much nicer having the extra door and space, I couldn't harp on it enough.

We have a 09 Wrangler Sahara Unlimited and a 08 Liberty Limited. The Wrangler has a ton more room but but the ease of loading the baby is a bit easier in the Liberty since it is lower to the ground and you dont have to reach as far into the vehicle. although like was previously mentioned the hemi cant be beat.

We have 3 kids - 8,5 and 3 - no issues with space whatsoever with the 4 door. 2 week 3000km roadtrip last summer with plenty of luggage room even with the top down most of the way (buy the kids sun glasses.... and ban anything handheld when the top is down).
We kept our old minivan when we bought the Jeep as we thought the Jeep may not be practical enough and more of a 'toy'. Van was sold 6 months later as we were not using it and I was fed up of sweeping snow off it! We find the Unlimited to be great for the family.
The 4 door does have the child seat (LATCH in Canada) loops built in.

Most passenger vehicles, manufactured after September I, 1999, are equipped with top tether anchors. All cars, minivans, and light trucks will have these anchors beginning September 2000. These anchors are required in three rear seating positions.
As of September, 1999, all new forward facing child safety seats (does not include booster seats) meet stricter head protection requirements. To meet these requirements, most seats will have a top tether strap.
Currently, some new passenger vehicles are equipped with lower child seat anchorage points between a vehicle's seat cushion and seat back. Together, the two lower anchorage points and top tether anchorage make the LATCH system. By September 1, 2002, this system will be required in two rear seating positions of all cars, minivans, and light trucks.

Thanks folks. For those of you wondering about Belgian Beer, you'll start feeling the effects after 3, they're so strong.
Can't beat good 'ol Sam Adams though...

I have no problem getting my 3 kids (7, 5 & 2) in the back on my unlimited, just as much room as in my wife's Envoy.
In fact the narrower doors on the JK make it easier to get the kids in and out when someone parks along side you.

I think the below pictures speak for themselves. We have a 2 year old and he is the only grand child on both sides of the family. Christmases get kind of outta hand... Santa's Sleigh was jam packed with him in his carseat, dog in the back seat with him, and the wife and I comfortable in the front seat.
