I need new tires my options are....

285 75 17 on 17x8.5 with 4.75 bs
Or
305 65 18 on 18x9 with 4.75 bs

I would love to see pictures of jeep jkus with that setup. Please post lift specs as well
I cant decide 17 combo is $1240, 18 combo is $1360. Just would like to see what they actually look like on a jku before i buy

Do you have a lift currrently? What gears?

Are the tires load range E? I've never seen a 285/75 that isn't, do you want a tire that stiff?

The 258 is slightly taller, the 305 almost an inch wider, which look do you want?

Here is my 2016 JKU with 305's mounted on 17" wheels with a 2.5" lift. I would recommend that you go with 17" regardless of whether you do 285's or 305's. There are just so many more options in the 17" range, many of which are less expensive.

Yeah the 285 75 17 are load range e. But im fine with a stiffer tire. I had them on my xterra and i didnt notice much of a difference, as far as gears i have 4.10s and a 2" front 1" rear spacer lift

I like 18" wheels for 2 tire sizes. A 315/70R18 which is about a 36x12.50 and a 285/75R18 which is a 35X11.00.

If not for those 2 sizes, I wouldn't even look at 18s and would stick with a 17" wheel.

Mounted and balanced!
Tires 285 75 17 falken at3w on 17x8.5 pro comp rockwells 4.75 bs. On the jeep they measure at 33.5" tall at 45psi. The lugs on the sidewall are outside the flares, but the tread is covered. In that pictures there is no lift on yet. Waiting for my fox shocks to show up then im putting 2" coil lift spacers up front 1" in the rear

Tire place set my 285/70r17 Falken Wild Peak at3w (on 17x9 rims) to 44psi. I've since dropped them down to 34psi, but they still dance/bounce a little, so I'm planning on dropping down to 32psi (then maybe 30psi depending on how they seem from there) tomorrow.

After 2,000 miles. I'm very happy with these tires. No lift yet probably will install it next weekend. Street driving its perfect no rubbing but on my local logging trails it rubs a little in the rear. Put these tires in the mud, snow, ice and on the highway at 80mph. Im very impressed and pleased

Did you have to run wheel spacers on those stock rubi wheels to avoid any rubbing? I was going to go that route but was worried about rubbing issues. Are those 285 75s?
yes, I've got 1.5" spacers. I never tried them w/out the spacers but I figured they probably would rub. plus, I like the stance with them.

we opted for the 70s instead of the 75s. it's my wife's DD and will only see 2-3 trails a year, so the lighter P285 vs the LT285 made more sense. that, and I didn't see the value in spending $150 more for the set just to get an extra 1/2" of height.

here's some pics of the poke. it's very minimal...

rear:

front is also very minimal. less than an inch, probably. I've not gotten the Jeep into any mud yet, as my wife likes to keep it clean. but we should know by this weekend as we're heading to Moab to break her in.

the lift is 2" up front and 1.25 in the rear. basically the TeraFlex leveling kit, but much cheaper because it was all purchased through eBay.
