265/75/16 tires on a JK

Hey Guys,
I got my new rims and I want to install some 265/75/16 AT tires on a stock height 08 JK. I had one member here tell me that he had no problems with size which why I am considering these tires. Anyone else run this size tire? I think the gearing on my 08 is 3:23 and I have a 6-speed manual, any issues there with that combo? Any pictures of how this size tire will look? Thanks for all your help!

265/75/16 = 31.6x10.4/16

That is no problem on a JK

HeyGuys ,

Since I am a noob to Jeeps, i do appriecate all the answers!! These new tires are gonna cost big $$ so I want to make the right decision on them. It appears that the 265's will fit without issue, has anyone ran the 285/75/16 on a stock height 08 JK without any rubbing or any issues at all?

That converts to standard at 32.8" height x 11.2" tread width, which is right about the threshold for largest tires on stock suspension without rubbing at full steer lock. There are plenty of guys running a 33" tire that's wider at 12.5" and some claim to rub lightly at full turn - it depends on the wheel offset or backspacing as well.

I'd have no hesitation about running 33s at stock height, unless you do a good share of wheeling beyond fire trails.

Post some pix - welcome aboard.

265/75/16 AT are smaller than stock for the Sahara and Rubicon. Zero issues

I am running a set of TrXus M/T in 285/75 R16, but I'm using a set of Cragar Soft-8 16"x7" rims with 4" of backspacing. No rubbing at all, and with my 4.10 gears, the Jeep handles the added weight just fine.

I will be going with a set of Cooper Discoverer STT in probably a 235/85 R16 after these tires are dead. I'm looking to go tall and skinny, but stay within the 32" barrier for my warranty (local dealer won't warranty if I run "oversized tires")

Here's a pic of my rig when I got the new bumper (only thing missing from the pic is the CB antenna off the rear license plate holder).

Another view (with the stock bumper):

Actually, your wheel and tire package on the rubicon are roughly 32.06 inches tall. The sidewall of the tire is not as tall as a 265/75, but the inch bigger rim offsets this. As someoned mentioned, a 265/75/16 is roughly 31.6 inches tall. The 255/70/18 wheel and tire package on the Sahara is 32.06 inches tall--same as the Rubicon. Some JKs come with 32" tall tires and 3.21 gears with the six speed from the factory, so you will be within spec. However, you will probably find 6th gear is useless on even the slightest grade.

100% correct, lol. My jeep hates long hills and going top/ doorless above 65mph. Its a struggle to maintain speed.
