The mrs bought a new 2017 JKU a couple weeks ago and yesterday we took it on the drive on beach. Aired down and put it in 4wd (light on dash came on) and drove out. Turned the first corner (90 deg right turn onto the beach) and it apparently disengaged the 4wd. Light was still on but front tires not spinning while rear tires spun and buried to the frame. Put it in low range and reverse and it crawled right out of the hole. Put it back in 4wd high and it buried itself again. Moved the shifter back and forth a dozen times and 4wd hi finally worked.
We figured since its new and everything is tight it just needed to be worked a bit. Anyone else have this happen? Do you think it needs adjusted?
Our previous JKU and all the other Jeeps we have/had go just fine on the beach.
Obviously something is out of whack. The shifter is cable controlled. If it goes into 2wd and 4-low, the shifter and cable is connected/working. Since 4-hi is between them, it must be shifting through it. So yea, it needs attention.
Fortunately it's new and under warranty. Time to make an appointment with your dealership.

If you decide to visit your local dealership for further diagnosis I'd be happy to offer assistance if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know!
Thanks for the replies. Looks like its going to have to go back to a dealer. This morning she went to leave for work and it would not go into reverse no matter what (6 speed) so she's back to driving my YJ again. Well it made it 1500 miles before breaking down.
