2013 Fender paint crack/blemish

I have a 2 month old JKU that I just noticed after it's 1st real washing & waxing that I have crack/blemish on each front fender. I brought it to the Dealer today and they took pictures and sent them to Chrysler for warranty approval. Chrysler came back saying it is normal. I told them to reply no it is not and I want to see a Zone Rep in person to have him see it in person. Anyone else run into this problem ?

My silver painted front fenders are the same way...and my rears are beat to hell from rocks(I have a Rubicon with the BFG MT tires, FYI.)

Dealer told me same thing on the front...normal, and they wouldn't cover the chips on the rear fenders.

**** it.
I'm doing flat fenders someday anyway...and the stock ones will be used for target practice with my 12 gauge.

It is a warranty claim. Don't give up. The flare is a mold and the mold was not sanded before being painted.

Had mine covered under warranty.

All the flares have that mold line. I've never seen the painted flares up close. Clearly that line isn't smoothed out before paint at the factory. Good luck getting it covered by warranty.

Yes that is normal. I have an 08 but not as noticeable on black. Friend just bought a Gecko green Sahara and it is very noticeable. Go to your dealer and look at other JKs and compare.
The mold may be the same but the plastic is different between the flat back and painted fenders.

Cracking paint is not acceptable on a brand new vehicle. Period. Once again, Chrysler does an excellent job not standing behind their products.

I absolutely annihilated my '07 Sahara's painted fenders against various trees and rocks and eventually replaced them with standard black ones. However, I never had paint crack along that line.

Keep badgering them until it's fixed.

The paint isn't cracked.
It's a "raised, rough" mold injection line that isn't sanded down very well before the flare is painted.

Every JK painted flare has this.
Some colors make it more noticeable.

I see the mold lines on my DCR Sahara also but I won't worry about them unless the paint cracks. I don't like to break a factory finish unless absolutely necessary.

It's a jeep. They are built to perform offroad, not look pretty. If you want something that is never going to see dirt, get yourself a G-class.

On mine, the paint started cracking on that line and then started chipping away.

i see what you meant in your next sentence ....

I see you posted your observations by looking at the pictures.
Yes ... one fender the undercoating is showing = bad paint job.
If the other is not a crack then it = a bad pre prepration before paint.
Either way NEITHER is acceptable on a $36,000 vehicle.
If this type of CRAP paint job was done on a car or any other truck
you bet your life there would be no problem warrantying of the
work to be done.
