2012 Wrangler Auto Noise normal?

I'm usually pretty good at sniffing these issues out, and I've done multiple searches on Google and multiple JK related sites looking for any posts on this. I'm completely neurotic when it comes to my vehicles and generally hear more noises than most people.

When I put the car in gear there's a whine coming from the drive line. This whine is only audible when sitting still, or moving very slow. The whine goes away if I shift the transmission into neutral or park.

Have about 1400ish miles on her so far.

Anyone else noticed this noise?

Dealer says front pump on the trans is louder than average. They're offering to drop the trans and replace. Telling me it isn't hurting anything.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Sometimes when I'm walking down the street I here things going wrong with cars driving by. I've usually found that if it doesn't sound right it probably isn't--fortunately you found the "smoking gun."

I've been searching for someone else with this issue too!
A year ago i had a tranny line leak fixed. it may have always
been there but after this is when i noticed the whine when
putting into gear. The dealership replaced the valve body
and filter which seemed to fix the problem...for a few months.
The noise came back and the service manager said it was just
fluid noise (not!) and don't worry about it. Well it seems to be
worse and much more noticeable once the Jeep is warmed up.
I'd love to hear from others with this issue, i'll take mine in soon
and post the outcome.
>(Automatic)
>Most noticeable when warmed up
>Putting into Drive or Reverse the noise is heard for a couple seconds
>Sometimes after driving for a while it can also be heard for a second
when beginning to move also for a second when turning the Jeep off.

I have a noise too but not sure itís what you guys are hearing. Mine almost sounds like an alternator whine. When Iím in park and give more rpms the wine corresponds to the increase in engine speed. Been meaning to have the dealer take a look but actually forgot about it until this thread showed up.

A year later and the noise is still there, definitely not better but can't say its much worse. Dealer still says fluid noise (never heard fluid make that kind of noise)......just hope its covered with the drive train 5/100 warranty......

I have an 09 JKU auto and it's making these slight rattling noises that are so faint that you usually can only hear them while the Jeep is standing still like what the OP indicated.

When I shift from D to N, there is a slight whine of the hydraulic shifting into neutral and the rattling change tone and sorta came back. If there are music or road noise, you can't hear it. Also, the noise is louder during cold weather and it's getting warmer and the gear noise is almost noticeable.

I realize the OP posted about the 2012JK but maybe Chrysler design their auto the same way, with more gears that is.
