2012 using oil, no leaks, no smoke

Anyone having any oil consumption issues? We are using about 1 quart every 500-1000 miles. The jeep has 56,300 miles on it, and it's been using oil for at least 6k miles.

Mobil 1 5-20,
Recently switched to Castrol syntec 5-30

Wix filters before and just tried a napa premium this change, it seems to have an updated check valve in it that the wix didn't have.

Thanks

A sudden onset of consumption can sometimes be traced to a bad PCV valve.

Edit: I was thinking of the 3.8 so maybe doesn't apply to yours.

Loosing oil and not seeing a leak would mean that it is burning the oil. I am sure this will fall under warranty, so run it to the dealer. Go through the BS steps to confirm it is consuming oil and see what they can do for you.

I think the issue was with 2013+ where they have different filters and something with the housing cracking. Is the oil not registering on the stick?

Still using oil, even with the 10-30, I didn't think it would make much difference, but I thought I'd try. Calling dealership this week.

If your losing a quart every 1k miles it should be obvious under the engine or on it, if it was burning that much it would be rolling coal everywhere and probably clogged the catalytic converters by now. Have you crawled under and looked around? Either way still covered under the powertrain warranty. Use it to your full advantage.

odd it can burn that much oil and not mis fire in the end. 3.6 is more known for bad valves. Than burning oil. Can not recall another 3.6 burning oil in thread here. as were many many threads were on bad heads/valves.

The dealer wont do much unless it is More than 1q per 1K miles. They call that Normal usage at 1q per 1k.....................................ours has 1 head replaced But it has not used oil, change it every 3-3.5k Jeeps sees a lot of off road...

Hey lumpster,
Has your commute or vehicle usage changed in the last 6,000 miles? I’d be happy to make the appointment with the dealer for you. Let me know if I can assist you.
Thank you,
