2012 and up JK oil filters: Be careful what you buy.

Heres some very important info from JeepCares that concerns the 2012 and up (3.6 engine) JKs.

Update:

Here is a bit more info concerning the 2012 and up JK oil filters. The first two quotes below were taken from a thread in in the JK tech section and Im just assuming the info quoted is correct. The last quote is from the Allpar site explaining why the differences between the 2013 and 2014 oil filters and why they are not interchangeable. Thanks goes to Godholio for the link.


The purpose of this sticky is just to make you aware that there is a difference between oil filters with the Pentastar (3.6) engines and to help avoid problems when purchasing one.


If in doubt about what oil filter is the right one for your year of Jeep then I advise you to double check with any Jeep dealer parts department to remove any confusion.
