Seized crank,

I would think they can at least run some diagnostic test to find out what is damaged without opening the engine
We missed the important question. There IS a diagnostic to see how seized the crankshaft is. It is complex and involved, begins with a new starter and four new batteries wired in serial, and progresses to possibly a tow truck, welder and back hoe. Just gotta make it turn. It could be safer to hold the crank and turn the truck, depends on equipment placement requirements in your environment. Once you've determined how hard it really is to turn, you simply adjust the intake pressure and fuel enough to gain more to torque then spent rotating.

Ah, 3 minutes will have the lower pan off and you can see what the problem is.

No oil came out when the pan was removed.

@smcutter And where will I get the Hemi conversion kit from, remember I live in Oman and engines are not easy to get here.

@1222 I have written the short story here. But I have told the insurance company that only saw the warning light and oil coming out from the underside after when the engine had seized. I definitely have learned my lesson and I'm ready to move on.

So hereby this thread can be closed.

You have my sympathy, man. I mean that sincerely. I once hydrolocked my old TJ simple because I was ignorant of how easily it could inhale water. My feeling is that the first time you do something bad, it's ignorance. The second time, it's stupidity. And the third time, it's insurance fraud.

Anyway, I hope you're able to get a new motor for your Wrangler, whether that's a stock or Hemi.

For the record, I'm probably judging you for your bad grammar or spelling.

Thatís all well and good but thatís not how your first post read which I was going off of. I also wasnít implying that you deserve what you get (seized engine) but more toward informing the insurance company that you let it drain for 3 hours.

If I were you I would stop talking about the 3 hour thing just in case the insurance company somehow finds this thread. Perhaps even to the point of deleting this thread altogether and starting fresh without any mention of the draining. PM me if you are interested in my help.

Ok guys I think he got the message and regrets very much what and how it happened. No more flaming and such. Remember, heís one of us by virtue of owning a JK and also a member of this community. Thanks.

Update.
They opened up the engine. The only damage to the cylinder block was to one of the cylinder wells, you could see a bit of scraped off metal on the side. See attached image, highlighted area is where the damage is.
The left cylinder head has little bit oval well where the camshaft sits in. And the camshafts were a bit damaged.

I just want a second opinion on this. Can you bore out the affected cylinder and sleeve it or are there any other repairs possible?

I believe the cylinder can be resleeved. Its already a sleeve to begin with so maybe not economically. In your neck of the woods maybe the only economical way. Depends on how much a short block costs there.
If you scored the cyl walls, the bearings and crankshaft (and most likely cam and bearings as well) are probably wiped. Haven't seen them yet at this stage of teardown.

So we've got cylinder and crank damage. Probably also cam, as mentioned. At this point I can't imagine how it's cheaper to tear it apart, machine and re-sleeve the block, then rebuild it than to just swap it.

I'd be looking for a replacement engine from a wrecked JK. I'm sure there are as many in Oman as there are in the UAE.

I understand why you drove out of the wadi though. I get up to Ibri, Bahla, Ar Rustaq, Sahtan and such places sometimes. Gets pretty lonely off the road and there's no way out but to drive out.

Good luck with the repairs!
