Just a quick question for the 2012 guys, does the hood still lift and flutter just like before?

I haven't noticed any issues yet, drove for a couple hours on the highway today too.

Have you had a chance to drive with strong head winds yet, that’s when it shows up the most. I’m hoping to get an 2012 soon if I can work things out and hood flutter or not won’t stop me; I was just a little curious and hope I have a chance to find out first hand.

When you get the new one if you find it doesn't have the flutter just let me know and I'll bring you the rubber things from my 08.
I want you to be as comfortable in your new Jeep as you were in the old one!
Thats what friends are for.

A cheap cure for the hood flutter is one of those hood locks that you put behind the front grill (~$20 from Quadratec or whomever you buy from). It also keeps nosy people from looking under your hood. For some reason, the lock seems to reduce my hood flutter when I get passed by big rigs and other large trucks.

Or you can get one of these and never worry about it again. Plus they look cool.

Nothing a roll of duct tape can't stop. I'm sure you've seen it: going down the highway and a big rig passes you...the front of the hood flutters up and makes you wonder if the rubber hood straps are going to break loose and force you into doing an Ace Ventura (driving with your head out the window because the hood just flew up against the windshield).

That’s so kind of you. Hmm, now where should I sprinkle that laxative, in your drink or on your food this coming Thursday?

The hood flutter won't really begin until it's lifted and the air dam underneath is ripped off/removed.

You could be right on that, it’s been to long for me to remember what is like stock. At this point I’m so used to it that it won’t really mater that much, just wanted to know if they fixed it on 2012’s.

That’s nothing, wait until you pass an 18 wheeler going the opposite direction on a narrow road or a big gust of wind comes along and the hood tries to rip off and slam into your face. You’ll be telling God how for now on that you’ll never do a bad thing for the rest of your life.

My 2012 is lifted and without the air dam. No hood lift after hours of highway driving. However, it wasn't directly into a headwind.

Haven't noticed it on the wife's 2012 yet, but we haven't been on any 2 lane roads at highway speed yet. Considering the outside is the same, I'm suspecting it will, I already plan on change the wife's out before we move and travel corss country next month.
