2012-2013 safety recall

I just received the safety recall N28 / NHTSA 13V -234 transmission oil cooler tube. Has anyone else received one and proceeded to contact their dealer? I have looked around the cooler lines and can't locate any conflict or interference.

What the problem is.

The transmission oil cooler tube on your vehicle may inadvertently come in contact with the power steering fluid return line. This tube- to- tube contact could eventually cause the transmission oil cooler tube to develop a wear hole and leak. A loss of transmission fluid could cause transmission damage and if the leaking transmission fluid comes in contacy with an ignition source, cause an underbody fire.

What your dealer will do.

Chrysler intends to repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor). However , the parts required to provide a permanent remedy for this condition are currently not available. Chrysler is making every effort to obtain these parts as quickly as possible.

What you must do to ensure your safety.

Once you receive your follow up recall notice in the mail, simply contact your Chrysler Jeep or Dodge dealer right away to schedule a service appointment. Ask the dealer to hold the parts for your vehicle or to order them before your appointment.

That's an oldie but a goodie. I had one on my 2010 JKU. It started leaking bad.

JIMBOX 08-22-2013 07:26 PM

 YUP, meto, on my '08 JKUR-

Actually extended my warrany 7 years, or 70K miles--whichever first-

Doesn't seem like they have learned how to fixem yet !

Yup, I got it too. Not too concerned about it, but I'll get it done.

This is specifically for the 2012-2013 and is different than the hot oil from the lack of a transmission cooler.

Sad that they would engineer failure into the newer models after the previous recalls on the 2007-2011.

JIMBOX 08-22-2013 08:03 PM

 May be a different CAUSE, but

Still concerning the auto tranny cooler lines=

Different reason, same failure we're talking about a safety letter concerning tranny cooler lines, not the TSB J30, which was for "Hot Oil" FLASHING-

It's a new one. They are worried the tranny line going to the cooler will rub against the power steering line and cause one or both to leak.

 You guys are missing the point-

I'm talking about a safety letter concerning my '08 JKUR (5 years old) and it involves the SAME tranny lines, for a different leaik cause-

I quit-

you can check it your self perhaps. its a rubber line that IF made to long would rub the metal cooler line. by the looks of what I see, mine has at least a good inch of space.

I received one for my 2012 JKU today. Have not received one for my 2013 yet.

I checked it over after I received the notice and could find any issue , just thought I'd share the "news".

I couldn't remember seeing any lines that would be problematic when I initially brought it home and studied it's anatomy comparing it to the 3.8l. , other than the low mounted cooler lines by the oil pan.

 Alright, you know what I'm gonna do ?

Buddys forever, the letter we received on 17 July 2011, was for "SELECT" 2008/2010 jeep owners and it doesn't mention "WHY SELECT", maybe cause they're yellow JKURs-it also specified VIN No.s--crazy

Anyway it extended warrantys 7/70k for tranny lines, isn't Chrysler wonderful (:hahaha:)
