2010 4-Door Mountain JK - More Power!?!?

Hello, first time Jeep owner here...

Just bought a 2010 4dr Mnt JK. What are some easy to intermediate engine mods that I can do to help produce more horses/torque?

Any help would greatly be appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Thanks for the reply! I've heard that a chip may work... Hopefully someone can shed some light??

I've got pics of the Mtn, but not sure if my free account will let me upload...

A programmer is pretty much the only way to get any decent power gains.
On another note if it's an auto everyone will say regearing will make it feel a lot better.
But there really isn't much you can do with the 3.8L to increase power. If you want something noticable superchips or go big and get a RIPP supercharger.

supercharge it
Superchip/programmer it
Hemi It

Or trade it for a 2012. (honestly id say this option is a better move than a $5,000 supercharger) Seeing as you will probably take $5-7000 hit on trade in anyway.

Lol its a nice luxury, but as i stated above, with the 2012 coming out, and having more power supposedly than a supercharged 07-11, the money would be better spent on a trade in if you didnt invest much in mods.

I may not know much about lifts, tires, and 4WD. But, I do know engines and the 3.8 is useless when it comes to REAL power. I do think that the Superchips Flashpaq, is great for the money. It makes no sense to me why the Wrangler doesn't come from the factory with a V-8 option.

High center of gravity vehicle + bad drivers + too much power = roll over carnage at the mall. Consumer Reports mag and Ralph Nader would be all over it and Jeeps would be banned by the gov and go the way of the Corvair.

Just my opinion, but i feel the reason for the lack of power is the government mandates that the entire fleet average a certain number of mpg. Mopar could have cut the mpg of cars like the Charger or the Ram trucks, or make the Wrangler as fuel efficient as possible to get the average MPG up. Easy answer, really.

That is also why the body panels are thinner than Charmin. Anything to make it lighter and more fuel efficient. The tradeoff is power.

Of course, that same lack of power was evident when buyers test drove the Jeep, so it should not surprise or disappoint any current owners. It obviously was not enough to deter people.

If you have an auto your best bet for performance gain is a re-gear. The gearing for the auto with 32" tires is terrible. If you are still stock on tire size and lift, don't waste your money on a chip the gain is minimal. Going to 4.88 with 32's or 5.13-5.38 if you are looking at bigger in the future will gain a noticeable gain in performance.
Ask people that have had it done and they will tell you it is the best option. chips, cai, exhausts, headers are all a waste of money.

If you learned something new today, you had a good day.
