if anyone cares, my 08 uses 1/2 quart every 6000 miles, which is when i change the oil. 82000 miles on the odo.

Another thought, if you do switch to syn after a long time with conventional, it's reported that the extra cleaning power in some syn formulations can expose otherwise hidden leaks.
Syn formulations generally require fewer viscosity modifiers in the add packs which leaves room for higher concentrations of detergents, etc.
I'm not suggesting the oil loss will get worse, just that it's a possibility.
