15" wheels on a JKU

At the grocery store tonite, I saw a late model JKU with 15" American racing wheels and 33x12.5 BFG's. I talked with the owner and he said the combo worked well for light rock crawling but he could not remember the offset of the wheel anybody out there know what that might be ?

You'll want to focus more on the backspacing than offset. Offset changes with width but BS is more of a fixed reference regardless of width.

But with 15" wheels it's hit and miss. Some fit some don't. Some require less BS than others.

There is a 15" wheel thread discussing which 15s fit and which ones don't along with the needed BS and clearancing calipers to allow them to fit. Look for it, it will be helpful for you. The best I remember though, for 15s your going to want around 3.5" BS and no more than 4".

3.75" and 4" are the recommended backspacing for 15x8. 3.75" is just more popular choice.

They are cheap ones from summit racing, my only issue with them was that they are not hubcentric so the big hole in the middle does not ride on the lip where the OEM ones did

Not trying to talk you out of 15s, but I believe in building with the end in mind. With that said, if you plan on steering upgrades then consider a 17" wheel, many companies upgraded tie rods will only work with 17"+ wheels. Same goes for big brake kits.

Just giving a heads up
