14 bolt and HP dana 60 in a JK

Well i told my self i wouldn't swap the axles until she was paid off well guess what!!

Im going to use a HP Dana 60 out of a 79 Ford F350 and a rear Chevy 14 bolt.

Sold both my rubi axles so now shes in the shop on stands patiently awaiting the transplant.

I think it will look good with 40's

Picked up a 14bolt SRW for $180

Time for the pig to loose some weight

Im gonna start ordering parts monday who has the best deal for gears and lockers? I think im just gonna do detroits front and rear

I am going to be converting both axles to 6 lug so i can make use of the 6 on 5.5 beadlocks i have already. It will take some creative machining but i think Butch can do it

I was hoping that the 14 bolt would be wider and give me the space to out board my rear coilovers but it is real close to the same WMS as my dana 44 is 65.5 the 14 bolt i have is 67 wms

14 bolt vs dana 44 pinion

Are you planning on fabbing in tone rings? Dynatrac has 52 tooth rings with 4.194" ID Or something like that. With a little machine work the 14b hubs will accept them on a press fit

For 14B hubs, a little lathe work on the back of the hubs to fit the rings. On a D60/70, simply press them on.

A little grinding on the brake caliper bracket, and a little trim to the plastic webbing on the OEM JK Rear sensor, and a small hole drilled for mounting the sensor.

Fitting the sensor.

Hub back on.

Caliper back on.

DONE!

If you only do one rear, your speedo and odo WILL WORK ACCURATELY, AND your CEL will turn off. BUT your ABS/ESP will still light up on the dash.
If you do BOTH rears, your "BRAKE" light will also turn off on the dash.

Obviously, if you do all 4, everything will operate as OEM.

Yes sir thats the plan. I am going to take my 14b hubs to my machinist ans let him see if he can turn them done and redrill them for the 6 on 5.5 bolt pattern. If not then i will be ordering a set of hubs form solid with the correct bolt pattern and then have them turned down for the tone rings.

Please document the process in detail, I'd be greatly appreciative of it. I'm looking for a pair of 05+ SRW F350 axles myself with the intent of doing this.

The sterling 10.5s already have a tone ring on the carrier. I've been curious to know if you could splice both rear sensor lines onto a single tone ring and lie to the computer. I don't see why it would fault. As far as the computer would know, you're running a Detroit in the back.

im sure if you look around at military surplus yards, you can find a detroit for that 14b real cheap, and if youre willing to settle on 4.56's, you can get them real cheap there too. thats what military CUCV's came with in the rear...
