Old Jeep went up in Flames

I am new to this site and am not able to post pics up yet, but this weekend was not so good! My brother and I bought a 78 CJ-7 (went halves on it) and built it up and lifted it to do some river running. My dad then bought a 59 willys. I recently found an old cj3B that I purchased. I am in the middle of rebuilding the engine on my dads 59, so he bought my half of the 78 (so I could afford to build up my flat fender)that way he could have something to drive in the river this summer. Well, he was driving it in the river on saturday and went to climb a small bank and it backfired and caught the whole engine on fire. they got it out after a while, but it did some pretty good damage. I feel bad, now my dad has two Jeeps that don't run!! Oh well...I guess you can't have fun without some expense!!

Well, we got it back together and running again! Found a couple of problems with it. For one, we had the electric fuel pump turned up with too much pressure with wasn't allowing the float to shut off the incoming fuel, and then we also found the whole exaust manifold was cracked from one end to the other, and up and down! A combination of a back fire, and fuel pouring out was a good way to burn it up! A new exaust manifold, intake manifold, wiring harness, fuel pump, carb and some TLC (and money)....and we got it going again!!
