Just how much do the stock leaf spring sag over the years?

Just how much do the stock leaf spring sag over the years?

I'm wondering since the stock leaf springs are relatively cheap, and since I seem to appreciate it close to the height it is, but wouldn't mind a little more lift without entering the realm of the eventual SYE even with a 2.5" lift

stock yj springs are close to flat when new so unless your springs are really worn your probably loosing about an inch. a good way to check is measure your rocker panel, it should be 18" with stock tires.

Somebody still runs around with stock sized tires on 20 year old Jeeps?

I bought my '91 YJ a couple of years ago. With 31", I was reshaping the fenders, providing more clearance everytime I went out.
When I installed the 2.5 lift kit I got almost 6" of lift over what I believed were sagged springs.

My main reason for the lift was a broken rear spring 7 miles into the ride

I think they sag . . alot

I just changed my stock springs a month ago. Mine were not negatively arched when I took them off and they rode very nicely. The only reason I took them off is I got a great deal on 2.5" ome springs and shocks.

So did the YJ body end up 2.5 inches higher, or more than that?

More. About 3.5" higher then previously. But I love old man emu springs so I can live with the extra lift. I really wasn't looking to lift but ome springs ride so nice

T-casr drop that is not getting rid of the vibes. Shakes at 65+. Still working that issue so if get a set, try the sye

I had broken a spring on my 91 YJ and needed to get it back on the trails (and road).

4wd representative was VERY helpful in getting me to an affordable kit that would replace worn and broken parts.

Two 5 hour days were required.
I had two jack stands, and two small jacks. Normal tools.

I did need to remove the front stabilizer to gain BFH access to remove the stabilizer links. Pickle fork would have been helpful.

I also had to ream the lower hole of the rear stabilizer extension. This was done by fastening the extension in place and running a full size drill through the slightly misaligned holes.

All of this was done while RV'ing in a RV park.
Nice Kit, Affordable and Straight Forward Installation.

I am not a professional, but do have experience in Auto-mechanics and other mechanical skills.

My 89 is still stock and it's 24 years old, I will not buy a lifted rig. I rather buy something stock and modify it myself so I know it is done right But soon as I have all the money for new springs, shocks, high steer, perches, u bolts, brakelines, driveshaft, 35's , gears, and rear axle I will be goin SOA

LOL, I just about did the same.

Everything on the jeep, save for the wheels and 31" tires, is still pretty stock.

So I have the lift kit choices to make, SYE's to consider, etc.

When I got mine, it had stock springs and a 3" body lift. I dropped the body lift to 1.5" and put on OME's 2.5" lift so I "should" have gotten 1" of overall lift. I ended up with 3.5" of lift and a great ride.
