Jeeps looking out for each other

Snow in South Carolina is a rarity. There a few SC Jeepers here who know this. So when we went from 50+ degrees to snowing in less than two days there was much to be surprised about.

I'm at a friend's house miles outside of town, after a weekend of video games, hockey and drinking when the snow begins. I figure I'll try and get ahead of the storm before the roads become undriveable. Too late. Ten minutes later and I'm not even a mile away (after plenty of curvy backroads just to get to the highway) and I start to fishtail. Having driven in snow for a good portion of my life before actually moving down south, I didn't overthink the matter and started to correct the motion of the car. Nothing. I drive a Comanche, so pickup truck + no weight + no traction + snow = bad.

Before I knew what was what, I was in a ditch trying to get out. Nothing was working. About three minutes sitting there trying to get a signal I see the most beautiful thing ever. A Jeep Cherokee coming down the highway. A few cars passed earlier but they were really small cars who slowed down asked if I needed a phone to call someone or a ride and I usually just said I'm getting a wrecker. Which I was.

But for some reason, when I saw that iconic front grille and those square headlights, the first words out of my mouth were literally "thank god a Jeep". The guy gets out without asking the profoundly typical question "Want some help?" instead he goes "Where can I hook this thing up to?" and grabs a pretty reliable looking rope out of the passenger seat. We hook it up to my crash bar, he hooks it up to the hitch and pop goes the MJ.

I'd like to think that if I were driving anything but a Jeep I'd still be stuck in that hole but I'm sure someone would have stopped to help. Jeep guy who stopped and helped me out, if you're here on these forums, thanks man. I owe yo one.

That sounds like a lifesaver. And he saved you a towing bill too! Good for him

Alright you Primitive Screwheads, listen up! You see this? This... is my boomstick! The twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?

Awesome... this just speaks to the mindset of driving with a sense of community and right down to business help, versus the casual good samaritan act. I'm glad you got the help you needed. Maybe that guy will stumble across your post someday.

I passed by another jeep on base today with the lights left on. I went and turned them off for the feller. Wouldn't think about doing that for any other vehicle.

The fact that it's a jeep, plus no other vehicle is guaranteed to be unlocked!

A TJ in the parking lot across from me left his ligths on. I tried to open his door to turn them off, but the hard doors were locked. I felt bad that I couldn't help him.

About as effective as locking a screen door.

I climbed through the rear window of my friends YJ to kill the lights for him once. I also locked my keys inside, then remembered that the trunk was open, and I was able to flip the rear seat forward to climb in.

I was at wawa the other day. I was in the Rubi covered in mud and still dripping. There was a JK 2 cars down. 2009. I was sitting in the Jeep and my mom was inside. I heard this huge bang. I look over and this lady hit the JKs door and was leaving. I tried to get the ladys attention but couldnt. I got the license plate. I gave it to the lady in the JK. I asked if she had this big @$$ dent in her door. She said no and i gave her the tag number. I said just helping another jeeper out.

it amazes me that new people who buy Jeeps dont get it... driving down the road you wave to another Jeep but anymore people look at you like a tard. And even when I try to help people they would rather wait for a tow truck. Atleast thats how it is in Yuma AZ
