Interesting Jeep/Willys Find

This is a photo gallery on the local newspaper (Savannah Morning News) website in Savannah, GA. I don't know any specifics on the pictures, but I have emailed the photographer and asked her some questions. The title is "A Rare Find." Thought everyone might be interested.

There is a guy near me with 4 or 5 old willys just sitting under an eave. He uses them to plow his driveway(well one atleast) ive always wanted to ask him to part with one. They are in good shape for the age also

Is it just me, or are those pictures somewhat heartbreaking? So cool to see them, so hard to see them in such neglected shape. Argh.

Someday my goal is to acquire and restore a Willys MB or Ford GPW. My great grandfather served during WWII and the Jeep was one of his most useful tools. He brought two of them back after the war but they have long since been sold before my time. Having one of these Jeeps would pay tribute to him and all the other men and women that served our country during that war.

I dont think he's really restored a complete jeep yet. I think he mainly just gets them drivable and either uses them for farm toys or for parts. its kinda funny cause one of them that he drives doesnt even have brakes. he doesnt drive it on the street of course.

Friend of mine has had as many as 14 jeeps at one time, and at present he is down to 4 or 5. He's a pilot, never married, owns a few rental properties, couple of laundry mats, Has some acres of open land, etc. You never know what your going to see when you stop by there. One day, my son and I swung by his place. Big garage door was open, so I figured he was home. Couldn't find him. After a bit, he walked around the corner of the shed wearing scuba gear. He was in the bottom of his pond checking out some new stuff he had bought. You just never know,,,,,
