I think if I lived in Alabama I would just sell my Jeep and buy a boat.

I hope to make my return to Moab in spring of '10 so we'll have to see how schedules work out. I usually go a few weeks later than this.

I wont even walk 5 ft from the edge when we go in May! We go down after EJS too. We like to hit as many trails as possible & since our friends live there & have a good size jeep club & maintain many trails, we like smaller groups! AK huh? I have always wanted to come up that way. WA gets some snow but not like up there! My old boss just moved back up there & she says there are tons of places to go wheeln! Maybe some day instead of driving 19 hrs to Moab we'll head up that way!

^^^ lol Ohh you are bad Jevon Hey guys great TR and pics! Sorry I haven't posted or put up any of mine. I have been really busy the past few weeks running 4 days of EJS, spending time with my buddy at Arches, Canyonlands, camping and wheelin in the Needles, biking Slickrock Bike Trail, skiing in Salt Lake for 3 days, living out of a camper etc. Right now I am back home sitting here with a torched face from skiing pretty much dead tired.

After Fins & Things, we drove over and took a look at Potato Salad Hill - I was amazed how much different it looked from the videos and photos I have seen. No one else was around even though this was the first day of EJS. I would consider trying this hill if could watch someone else do it a time or two. I am not saying it looked easy, but it looked more doable than I had thought it would. After that, I headed to the car wash and spent about an hour trying to get all of the mud off. That stuff is different than the mud I am used to - it is really hard to get off once it dries!
I figured you would end up doing Bartlett on the last day... nice job getting muddy and having fun. I know what you mean about that mud... its like concrete. A few months ago I actually took some of the paint off the rear bumper cover of the Cherokee trying to get the mud off at the car wash You need to get it right off before it has a chance to dry. As for Potato Salad Hill I thought it looked pretty difficult until I saw a local go right up it in a STOCK S10 pickup with street tires during EJS Its all about the line. Again thanks for the great weekend guys! It was fun to run with such great folks. I would def be interested in running with every body when you guys come back next year but unless I get a decent job and do a lot to my rig you guys will probably be running trails that are over my head lol I will add some of my pics to this thread when I get a little bit of time. Its supposed to be 85 here tomorrow... I think I will head down to Lake Powell for the day.

very awesome write-up, you're absolutely right about stuff not looking as steep as it is. I ran fins n' things this Easter as well, the video you have of that "fun climb" just doesn't capture it.
I have a clutch and that thing was intimidating I knew I could turn out, but I decided to try it at least once, and we got up over it.

Folks I hope this is not off topic but if anyone is thinking about a trip to Moab but time/distance is a problem (if you are thinking about driving or towing your rig) you may want to consider flying and renting a Jeep.

Of course we would all like to bring our own rig, but if it is not practical and is preventing you from making the trip, seriously consider flying and renting a Jeep.

I took this route and had a lot of fun.

The special part of Moab is:
1) Scenery
2) Trails that can take all day which allow you to see the great scenery
3) As nerdy as it sounds for a few days you get to feel like you are part of a great adventure, a small convoy of rigs traveling, surrounded by nothing but great views.

oh yea did I mention the scenery?

My biggest expense was the hotel, but you can do a lot to lower that cost.
