Seen a 1998 TJ the other day while I was working it looked as if it had been sitting for a while front fender and flare was beat up and needed to be replaced soft top was leaking people had put card board over it the dash had mold growing on it this thing had been leaking for a while it was a 4 banger 5 speed needed new tires body was beat up the guy said it was drivin by his grandson while he was in high school so it probly had a rough life well anyway I ask him if he wanted to sell it at first he said NO he was going to fix it and make it a DD I said fix it? whats wrong with it he said you cant push the clutch in its like something is frozen I said OHHH well a few minutes pass by and he said if you want it Ill take 10,500.00 I just laughed and said I bet you would
from the posts here some people must think the frame is made of gold. around here a clean yj goes for 5k and up but 10,500 for a project jeep is out there. but I disagree that mods decrease the value. If the work is done correctly with quality parts the seller should be able to recoup some of his investment.
for fun I just checked kelly blue book and edmunds for prices, checked a 1991 on kelly and a 1990 on edmunds. checked excellent condition, could only check for 4 cyl. 120,000 miles
kellys price- $3400.00- very low for around here.
edmunds- $1450- thats a parts or project jeep around here.
My 95 YJ is priceless to me.
Its rust free, clean and has some upgrades. It runs.. I love it. and No its not for sale git your own.
This. I have had my Jeep for 8 years and my boat for 7. I have about beat through my laundry list on the jeep of mechanical fixes (never had any rust either) and still spend more time upgrading than fixing. I have about got everything I need on my boat for what we do with it. If I were to sell either just for the purpose of getting another I would probably end up back where I started and it would morph back into what I have now.
i looked at one the other day .91 yj owner wanted $1500. rusty and off the road for 2 years.Told him i would give him 800.00. i wanted the engine and ax15 for my build. he says he could get $1,000.00 if sold for salvage. well salvage is .15cents a # $300 a ton i told him and it only weighs 3300#. he says yeah like i said 1000.00 at salvage. i scratched my head and thought to my self some one wasnt paying attention in math class lol. i left my number and told him if when he gets to the scale and dosent like their offer call me.I hope he tows it to the junkyard dosent like their offer and calls me after he tows it back home.I will then tell him he can keep it since he dosent have a trailer and had to flat tow it i have no intrest in the drive train anymore.
Do you think I'm asking to much for mine...seriously? It's in the classifieds blue 1994 jeep wrangler
1994 JEEP WRANGLER YJ, 4.0 AX-15, DANA 30/35 STOCK GEARS, 4 INCH SKY JACKER LIFT KIT, T-CASE DROP, 32X11.50 DUNLOP MUD ROVERS ON BLACK RIMS, CHROME EVERYWHERE, CLEAR CORNERS, WHITE GAUGES, RHINO LINED INTERIOR,FRAME AND TUB, FRESH MOTOR CLUTCH AND TRANS, 236K ON THE BODY!!!
The modifications don't make a vehicle of this caliber valuable. The lack of mods, mileage and rust make it valuable. I could care less about someone else's lift or their choice in tires. I prefer a stock vehicle; a clean canvas.
