Flooding in MD. WJ Story & writeup.

So as some of you may or may not have known...it is flooding BIG TIME in MD. Oh, and I haven't been on in awhile (planning for July wedding). Anyways...just wanted to give an update on my WJ.

The lift and tires and supernerfs have been wonderful. My fiance and I and the pups have been camping like crazy and taking the WJ on some nice 4x4 and camping trips. Only problem is the bigger tires have been keeping us from going too far because the crappy mileage.

But thank god for these tires and the WJ because last night coming home from my parents, I saved a car and his family from the rain and got crazy soaked in the process. Coming down Rt. 29 north just south of Rt. 32 is a deep dip in the highway. And it was filled about 1.5' full of water (knee high), completely covering the roadway. Not to mention it was extremely dark due to the dense cloud cover. So we get to the bottom of the hill and see a car completely stopped in the water (guess he thought his accord would float across). So I think...do I rooster tail through this baby and wave as we go by or help them out ...I decided to help them.

So I drive into the "river" of water and yell to the guy that I'm going to help. Long story short, it was a ***** finding a place to hook my tow rope to, but found a hook under the rear bumper and ran back to my Jeep...thankfully, have my husky liners in...yay....saved my carpets! My pants and my entire body was soaked from the downpour.

So without any issue, I was able to drag the accord out and off to the side of the road. He was extremely thankful and I was happy to help and was extremely impressed with the way the Jeep handled and especially the tires.

So anyways, just thought I'd share. Hope all is well with you guys!

Erik

Oh yes, I know all to well. I'm out in fairfax station/clifton area of va, right off the occoquan river. Every creek and stream within 20 miles of me has atleast some flooding, no problem at all for the ZJ though.

In MD I ran across 1 spot oddly enough on "river rd" and some by clopper rd that had alot of water and police had the area blocked off with 1 car in teh middle and water only inches from the window line.

Suppose to keep raining like this atleast once a day all week 2, its not just the amount, but how hard, feels like your driving around in a high pressure car wash

Here's some pics of 4 mile run in Arlington, VA: about 4-5 feet above normal. That's still down from the 8-9 feet it was about 2 days ago, when we got those last flash flood warnings.
(i also just put these somewhere else...but i forgot already)

But did anybody see that mudslide on the beltway monday?

There was water and crap coming over the barrier apparently, and thats why it was closed around alexandria and the woodrow wilson bridge. My boss and I drove across it right after the outerloop reopened. the innerloop was still closed and looked like hell.

and ///BHRpowered, I'm a Fairfax Stationer myself, I have the parkway right in my freakin' back yard.
