The stock sport bar saved my life. The day I graduated high school I rolled my '89(2.5" lift) while taking my cousin home after school. 35-40 mph on a hard packed dirt road with sandy shoulders. I can't say how many times we tumbled but I can say we were headed north and afterwards we were heading south. I'm just glad I made him put on his seatbelt before we left.

And aside from some body damage(never measured for frame damage) and a bent d35 axle shaft flange it drives pretty well lol.

Don't worry. I learned my lesson. I'd say they are safe. I'd rather have one than not after all. It's kinda funny I saw this thread too as I just got done watching "The 5th Quarter" where a kid dies because of the reckless driver of the car.
