I asked my boss who has lived around the area for a while if he knew anything about them, and he thought they had something to do with the coal mining that used to go on in the area. The houses have since been demolished due to urban spawl.
theres an old road i use my four wheeler one that has been locked down now on the far south side of Des Moines but theres a collapsed bridge and if you keep going after that there is a bridge where some girl hung herself like 20 yrs ago, creepy as hell at night. also some burnt up cars and one day we went back there and found a car that had been stripped and was still burning from the night before

The town in Silent Hill was modeled after Centralia, especially in the movie.

Silent Hill. It really does seem like a place I would live.

I don't blame people for their mistakes, but I do expect they pay for them.

Alright you Primitive Screwheads, listen up! You see this? This... is my boomstick! The twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?

Never been to Centrailia, but there's a mine fire in New Straitsville, OH that's been burning since '84...............................1884..

I don't really find anything exciting while on the trails...stripped cars, abandoned oil tanks...came across some people who ran over an 8.8 in the bottom of a "puddle"....33" swampers on it......wish I could find something like that..

yeah living in Niskayuna ny doesn’t ever give you any cool to find in the woods.
but when I went up to my grandrents' house up in Warrensburg. my cousins wanted to go riding so we went to the trails that are laced behind their house, we came across what used to be a gmc truck and like some hell of a burnt home or cottage or something. nothing special but kind of cool.

you really should call in the bomb squad then, if it's that unstable there are plenty of things that could set it off

Yeah, but dynamite gets very unstable with age and can be set off by ANYTHING. Better to have it removed than to have the house blow up in the middle of the night. Its too much of a liability...
