This isn't from wheeling, but I found this while metal detecting an old boy scout camp that was used for Army training during WWII.

Out West we have lots of wide open public land to explore. I track down old 1800s maps and then follow the old dirt trails and roads shown on them.

I found this abandoned stagecoach station in the middle of nowhere:

On another trip a few miles south of there I parked my Jeep alongside a fairly well used dirt road, and on a hunch, walked up a rocky gulch where I figured the old trail must have gone and found these stagecoach tracks and writing on the rocks nearby:

I have only found abandoned houses, an old volvo truck and an old military shooting range.
But i have no photos of the shooting range.

Volvo truck.

The houses.
Sorry for the bad photos but it was going dark when i found them.

No, I had no flashlight with me, and the doors and windows were locked and i dont break in to the houses i find. If a house is open i usually go in to look around but i never take anything that was in the house with me.

Last time i went in to a house when it was getting dark witout a flashlight i almost fell in to the basement (2 meter drop right down).
I am never doing that again.
