It was built by the Colorado National Guard during a miners strike in 1904, and was used to keep union miners from crossing Imogene Pass into Telluride (basically the state troops were in the pocket on the mine owners). Anyway, my dad & i were exploring this ruin when we came upon an old board with someone's name & the date carved into it. The amazing thing was, he had the same last name as us (we have an unusual last name) and the date was the same! We were there 75 years to the day from when he was! Normally I don't condone taking things from historical sites, but we cut that board out & took it home-my dad still has it.
Cool story!

Didnt happen to me, but a freind of mine was up in duluth over the weekend, and was takeing a ride through this little gully, and stumbled onto their old boat salvage yard. Said that most the boast were gone, but he found one large ancor, and afew 0dds and ends. Were planing a summer trip to see if we can find cool stuff without snow.

wow!
3 days, 127 pages & multiple links later, I am here lol

Only found 1 body when I was a young, a friend and myself rode our bicycles down to the boat dock not far from our homes.
I was about 8 I believe.
The large black man was hung up by his pant leg on some barbed wire, that crossed a small inlet next to the boat ramp.
I will never forget the color of his lip weird grey hue and his eyes were gone, they said the fish ate them?
He was really bloated, pants & no shirt.
He had went out 2 nights before with 2 mexican helpers to run trot lines, before a storm front came through.
He was known to not have been able to swim.
None of them ever came back, we found him the other 2 guys were never found.

Besides that youthful experience..
I have only Been to Carlsbad Caverns, Natural Bridge Caverns and the usual, would love to explore caves/ mines.
Used to do Big Bend with the Family also.

Found the usual stuff, burned out vehics. on our land, land burnt by copper thieves burning copper.
Found a few rigs stuck on some old trails we used to run yrs ago.
Occasional Rolled Jeep, helped upright and go on.
Train track bridges leading out over water going to know where, on friends properties.
Biggest gripe is people wheeling throwing trash on the trails.
Next is being out wheeling w/o and idea of what to bring do or how to act when they are on the trail, such as how to properly winch
yourself out with a come along or highlift.
No straps, No tools, no way to fix a flat much less a spare or jack to change it.

Had to pull out a brand new F350 getting stuck on some ruts, then again burying themselves in the first low lying wash trying to cross.
if they would have just listened and back out the way i showed them, they would have been fine.
There was about 6 people best I could count, drinking and really oblivious to reality.
Alcohol + Idiot + New off the lot 4x4Dually F350 on street tires= PIMA
but entertaining..

I will come back and edit some stuff tomorrow need to recoup from the last few days reading...

We were ridin on a buddy's property one evening. When we stopped to take a break for a little while we shut the lights and engine off on the rhino. We sat there a little while then we noticed some noise comin from a litle ways off. Sounded kinda like a couple people stumblin around with some kind of animal. We start sneekin around tryin to find whoever it is with out being seen and we finaly get close to this clearing and we see a light and hear moaning and giggeling. My buddy turns on the flash light and shines at the noise. Some gal screams and runs. Leaving her boyfreind tied to the front of an atv with the dog... "Stuck to him". we just laughed and left.

We didn't bother to go back and check. Theye were pretty far from any road or house so we're pretty sure she had to go back to get her clothes and the atv.
