A day of 4 wheelin gone bad.

Well for starters this is a pretty long story but a good one.

It was a Tuesday morning about 10am. My buddy and I both have the day off. So we decide to go test out the new mud tires my buddy just got on his Ranger. We go to a spot that we call Snot Hill, down by the Edisto River about 8 miles off the main highway. We get to the spot and it is nice and muddy (it had rained two days prior). I decide I'll be the first to go, I make it through the first hole just fine. I go down the hill come out the other end to the open field to turn around and make the pass again when the mud says your not going anywhere. The field I'm in is very wet from all the rain you guest it I'm stuck!!! We've been here maybe 10 minutes and I'm stuck big time GREAT!! Well my buddy who is filming this on the digital camera says don't worry I'll get you out!! He goes through the first hole fine, but gets high centered where the hill dips down on the other side. What i mean is his front bumper gets stuck on the incline and his rear bumper on the decline and his nice mud tires are just spinning...not good!! It's now about 11am. I try rocking the Jeep out I make some progess but not much I think I even made it worse. My buddy is usless. We try pushing it out... not working. Oh I forgot to mention we have no recovery equipment just a chain. And our cell phones aren't getting a signal. So now its 2pm still stuck. We decide that it's time to start walking. It takes us about 3 hours to walk 8 miles. We get to the main highway my buddy calls his wife to come pick us up and take us to Wal-Mart. We are determined to get our self out because we do not want to call a toe truck. It is now about 8:30pm My buddies wife drops us off back at our trucks and leaves cause she has to be to work at midnight. So now it's dark, cold and we are covered in mud and wet. We use the come-along that we bought to try and get my Jeep out. We hook it up to my friends truck hook it up to the chain that's hooked to my Jeep. He's cranken as I'm given it gas to get out. It's WORKIN!! I'm moving!!! I'm stuck again DAMNIT!! It's now about 12am one more try with the come-along. I'm about 6 feet from the front bumper of my friend's Ranger. Our trucks are facing each other bumper to bumper. My friend is cranking on the come-along. I tell him Joe if I start to move you need to move cause I don't want to pin you between our trucks. Well Joe didn't move in time. He gets pinched between the trucks. I back-up just enough for him to get out. He's on the ground screaming my leg, my leg!! I call 911...hey my cell phone is working!! So I'm on the phone with 911 tring to direct the cop to where we are at. I'm tring to keep Joe calm so he dosen't go into shock. Finally the deputy shows up 45 minutes later with EMT. We end up making a trip to the hospital. Luckly Joe just had a brused thigh. Our trucks are still stuck, we're in the hospital, it's 3am, we're an 1 hour from home and we have now idea how we are getting home. We call Joe's wife she picks us up. It cost us $500 each to get us out...no tickets were issued. I got home at 5am. What a day!! Thanks for taking the time to read this. Hope you enjoyed!! Also the wife doesn't know anything about this so don't tell her. Thanks!!

Man.. That sounds terrible.. sorry. But hey, is your Jeep stock, or was the mud just really bad?

Well the Jeep has about a 2.5'' lift w/some Mickey Thompson MTX's (not the best tire to take muddin). Engine is pretty much stock w a MC2100 Carb. Everything eles is stock. I've been to this spot before and made it just fine. However the spot I got stuck looked OK until I got on it with the Jeep and then ground just opened up....I never had a chance.
