1st Off-road Experience

I have never used my JEEP for anything besides a DD and hitting the occasional puddles in the area but nothing I would ever consider off-road. My girl and I went up to Greenridge State Forest, which is about 20 miles from Cumberland, and had a blast as well as a gut wrenching time. It was so much fun riding through for the first hour then the second hour got ridiculous because we weren't positive but assumed we were going the right way plus the trail got a little insane. If I went back again I wouldn't be as nervous and it's crazy to imagine what could happen if you got stuck. I mean we were way up in the mountains all alone

Here are some pics from the day...I don't take the best pictures or have a fancy camera but it does the job. I feel so much better driving this now since I know I have used it properly. Most of these pictures are from the mud because once we got to the big rocks and stuff we were on our way out and ready to leave. It was like 7pm or so in the middle of the mountains and I don't kid when I say the middle of that trail was BIG ROCKS. Plus there are only a few stops along the trail and the trail is one way so if you get stuck or wanna leave it's not exactly easy. The JEEP is also very dirty all over from tree branches, whole trees and those puddles splash all over!

I know all of you have some serious rigs or not so serious but I was pretty nervous doing this and after looking at some threads I can see the crazy trails that are out there.

First stop. We were driving to the trail and I thought this would be a cool pic and if you look at my rear wheel you can see it flex under because I drove onto a hill. If you look towards the poles to the top right of that mountain is where we ended up.

Lady friend

Got her to test the puddles with a stick just in case

Action shots from both of us

She was a little nervous but I got her to do some puddles and rocks too

Stop to eat and snag a pic or two

Hard to see but the poles are where we started like I said and this is the lookout and leaving

Looks like you had fun, and learned a little about your rig. That's all you can do. Wheel and have fun to your own ability, and don't worry about keeping up with other people's rigs. It's always a learning experience for me. Thanks for posting!

completely free. I just had a map of the area, which was free also, and we were good to go

there are sites along the trail and on the roads nearby

That looks like a nice drive. How long is the trail? I might have to look into it for a trip. I am about 3 hours from MD considering where that is it might worth it.

I was just checking their site and saw that there is an 18 mile ORV loop. That's nice. Now are there any cabins for rent around the area or any cool small villages to spent the night, cause I think I am considering this.
