zipper pulls

i reluctantly bought a new rugged ridge top. surprisingly, it's actually a nice top for what you pay for. the only problem i have is the string zipper pulls keep coming apart on two of the zippers. anyone have any alternative solutions?

I replaced mine with pieces of leather boot laces(holding up VERY nicely so-far).

I put 550 cord on mine. My top is old and ragged, so I made them about twice as long so my fingers don't get cut on the inside edges of the top when I unzip it.
