yj hood, grill and fenders on lj?

im in the process of buying a lj with front end damage,
(it needs a whole new front clip)
and i have a yj grill, hood, and tube fenders sitting in my garage.
what i was wondering was if i could make it work with the lj.
would the hood line up with the rest of the tub?
i figure i could save some money and use what i have instead of spending money on tj parts
any input would be appreciated,
thanks

The time space continuum will fall apart if you build such an abomination.

I have seen some threads about grill swaps. Cj to YJ or TJ and TJ to YJ. They looked pretty easy. You might have some gaps here and there, but I think it would work ok. Try looking at the other swaps for a ideas.

Edit for some links to get you started. Since you have the hood and fenders also I think it would be fairly easy if you don't mind some problem solving.

thanks for the links
i know people swap tj grills to yjs,
but since i have all the yj stuff, why spend more money? haha

i figured since i have everything it would work,
but i wasnt sure if the hood was the same shape as the tjs.

i figured it would deffinately be a head turner if you saw it driving down the road hahah

No, the hood won't line up with the body very well. The rear edge of the YJ hood won't match the the TJ/LJ cowl. The curve on the sides of the YJ hood is a larger radius than the curve on the TJ's cowl, so there will be gaps. Also the YJ hood is more or less flat across the top but the TJ cowl has a raised portion in the center, so there will be gaps there too.

If you want to use some of the YJ parts, using the YJ grille and fenders with a TJ hood would fit a lot better than using the YJ hood.

thanks for the info, I figured the hoods were different, just didn't know how different.

From what I've been told the body lines on the side won't match up either. I have a friend wanting to do the same thing with a cj front clip but he is planning on cutting the body and welding it all back so all the body lines match up and everything.
