Yet another sputtering, hitching, missing, and backfiring thread!!
So I have done alot of reading and figured I had a problem with my upstream o2 sensors. My Jeep runs like crap, it has lost power and misses, bucks, and sputters. It idles fine and does not miss while at idle although sometimes the idle will just increase all on its' own (no AC on) I have checked the fuel pressure and it's a steady 45 psi or so and when I shut it off it does not drop. I have unplugged the upstream o2 sensors and it still has the same issue...oh yeah it's a 2000 TJ 4.0 5speed Cali model, with 120K. Just bought it. I have unplugged the TPS and drove it and it continues. It is throwing a code because the speed sensor wires got wrapped around the driveshaft and parted them. I am going to do another scan today and see what codes it throws. I checked the exhaust for clogs and it is free and clear. I know this has been discussed in depth many times ans my search showed that. What gets me is that the problem persists after the o2 sensors (upstream only) have been unplugged. I thought for sure this would tell me what the problem is. Oh yeah, one other really wierd thing..when I make a left turn it really misses bad and continues when I straighten up. Then it clears up a bit but turning left will cause the Jeep to buck violently. Anyone have nay insight on this? Thanks for the help!
