wrangler radio delete opinions?

So i tossed up the idea of relocating my headunit into an overhead console or tuffy center console.

Cool, but that leaves a blank space where the radio used to be. I'll use that empty space for switches but...

i think i can do a lot better than a piece of plexi that is screwed onto the bezel.

So far this is what have modeled up, and is only a starting point.

I could leave it how it is and drill later for switches or i could make it into a cubby hole for cds or misc junk.

You can mold something like this? What color are you planning? If dark gray or black how much would you want for one?

It will be made on a Rapid Prototyping machine out of resin (not sure what kind.) Color would either be opaque or white so one could paint to match.
Not sure on how much one would cost just yet, i couldnt imagine too much.

Haha... if I had a rapid prototyping machine I'd do things like this all the time.

My advice - Think about what you want to put there and make the cut-outs now.

An array of Carlingtech Contura switches? (ARB style?)

Maybe build in a dock / mount for your navigation?

I work for a company that installs and maintains rapid prototyping machines. You can find these machines randomly throughout the US. I know for certain, we have machines in Boston. Anyway, a project like you have, if you contract it out, would cost around 100 dollars maybe cheaper depending on which machine they have/use. This includes the material, usually either PA which is cheaper or EX which is a bit more but much stronger or the liquid resin which is strong and relatively cheap, and labor for cleaning and breaking out. The whole project would take around 5 hours for the prototyping machine to "print" the image. By the way, you can paint any of materials easily, it's one of the features thought of during the design of the powder and resin.

I've seen 2003+ style delete panels because we had some military spec Long-wheelbases out here in Oman. No airbags, no stereos, no AC

I've not seen an older type.

There is a radio delete panel for '97-02 TJ's. The Jeep part number is 4372399 and it lists for $20.99 at the dealer.
