Which Wrangler do I have?

How do you tell what version of the Wrangler do I have? It is a 2006 TJ, put the PO removed all the badges except for the Trail Rated badge on the drivers side. How can I tell what trim package I have, is it an SE, an X or a Rubicon?

The SE has the 2.5L I4, so if you have a 4.0L it rules out it being a SE, you can always run your Vin which will give you info on what you have

You can tell if its a rubicon if it has the lockers in the front and rear.

Rubicon should be pretty easy to determine.

Actually, the SE uses the *much* different 2.4L from 2003-2006. With the advent of the JK (2007) there has been no 4 cylinder Wrangler offered. Just providing some clarity. The 2.5L and 2.4L are nothing alike at all.

If he has a 4.0 that doesn't rule out the SE. 05-06 it was an upgrade option for the SE.

I believe that for 2006 the I6 engine was an option for the SE, so it could still be an SE if you have the I6.

If you have vinyl seats it's probably an SE, as I don't think they were offered on any other trim.

Label doesn't matter. Just worry about what parts you have and what changes you want to make.

You can send a message to jeep with you VIN number, on the jeep website, and they will reply with a complete build listing.
