wiring issues

Hey guys!
My old PIAA lights which I was using as aux. reverse lights died, and wasn't in the mood to spend that much now so I bought Blazer radiant effects driving lights.
Wired it the same as my PIAA, using a hot wire from one reverse light, and then grounding. Didn't work.
Hooked up one light, to see if it would work. Nope.
Okay, used one red wire from one reverse light, then grounded the black.
Worked on the PIAA, not on the Blazer lights.
Any idea why?

Could you have blown the fuse for the back up lights?

Are your stock back-up lights working (is you still have them) ?

If you weren't using a relay, like said above, could have blown fuse or even reverse switch on tranny.

Stock reverse lights still work, that's the confusing part. Nothing to troubleshoot.
