Wipers wont turn on

I have a 97 tj and I just tried to turn on the wipers today and nothing. They have not slowed down prior or have I noticed anything out of the ordinary. Everything else on the colum works. The washer still squirts. I checked the tiny fuse behind the glovebox and it is good. Any idea of what I should do now? Thank you

Do the turn signals and radio work when the wiper doesn't? They are all fed from the same set of contacts in the ignition switch, so if they are out too either the switch is bad or the fuse supplying the switch is bad. that would be fuse 3 under the hood.

Could be the motor but you'd need to remove the cowl panel to get to that.

didn't notice the "washer still works" earlier. It'll be the motor then.

Today they still wouldn't work so I gave the steering colum a few taps on the top and the wiper started working. I'm thinking it might be the switch/lever that's going bad. Anyone ever change one

I've changed one. But not because the switch wasn't working. I replaced my non intermittent switch for one with the intermittent function.

They are pretty easy to swap. Having a non tilt column, I find removing the top half of the steering column cover is easier if the cluster surround is removed.
