Wiper blade question

Is anyone using blades greater than 13 inches in length? I have a 2000 TJ and the windshield is 18” from bottom to top so it appears that a blade up to 18” should work.

Thanks.

An 18" blade would only work if the wiper were to do a perfect pivot off the lower tip

Go out and turn on your wipers. Notice the pass side blade comes right to the top of the windshield on its stroke. But it also goes past that and then the other end goes to the bottom of the windshield elsewhere on the stroke. Therefore longer blades won't work.

I was pleasantly surprised when I got the jeep, my other vehicles have LONG blades, and the ones on the jeep are so tiny... but they actually sweep more of the glass than any of the others. They work great!

I actually have a longer one on the drivers side of my TJ. Its actually 18 inches. (I just went out to measure it because I wasn't sure, they came on the Jeep when I bought it) It only leaves the windshield at the very top for about 1 inch. I like it a lot better than my girlfriends (factory size), it keeps my windshield a lot clearer.

Thanks for the responses.

I saw different sizes listed with different auto parts stores and wasn't sure if longer blades would work or be of any benefit.

The current blades are getting dry rotted and I need to replace them before the July/August monsoon season here in Sedona.

With experience with both the regular size and an 18 incher, I would recommend the 18 inch one. Even though it leaves the windshield at the very top a little bit, it really helps with the visability in my opinion.
