will a TJ back seat fit LJ?

I found out the expensive way that a 2001 TJ seat will not latch open in my 2006 Unlimited. The seat belt bolts on the fender well interfere. It fits, and looks right in the open position, but it's not latched. That doesn't seem safe to me.

Can I use this seat with different brackets? Do I need to buy a 03 or later TJ seat? Will I need to buy an Unlimited back seat and brackets??

Please advise before I waste more time and money- thanks!

no you would need early brackets. The seats were redesigned in 03

I like the newer seat better with the auto flip up thing. The older seat is easier to get in and out of the jeep. here is what the mounts look like on a 02.

yes, I put those fwd brackets in my 06. The curved rear brackets didn't fit though, allowing the seat to pivot up and forward.

Anyone have a similar pic of 03 or later? Unlimited would be ideal just to be sure I get the right brackets.

Thanks again, all!

IIRC, the lock mechanism for 03+ is in the center of the floor, not on the wheel wells

The newer style seat has 4 brackets on the floor, 2 on each side along the sides against the fenderwells.
Nothing on the fenderwells.
The thing in the middle of the floor is where the seat belts attach.

I find the newer style is far easier to use, and easier to get in and out too.

no. 03-06 seats will fit 03-06 Jeeps. 97-02 seats will fit 97-02. again, the BRACKETS ARE DIFFERENT.

buy a seat for the correct year vehicle.

or get the correct brackets for the seat and bolt them in. (LJ and TJ are same brackets, same seat.) Just need to drill a few holes.

TJ seat on an LJ

Will this Setup with these brackets work to put 2001 TJ Seat on a 2006 LJ?

Those are meant to install with the drawer. I could not tell you if you could install without the drawer but they also raise the seat up a couple of inches which you would not want. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw...Text=&_sacat=0 You also have to drill holes to install them in a 03-06
