Unless the donor vehicle is a Rubicon you won't be getting a pair of D44 axles out of it. Unlimited TJs have D44 rear and D30 front, 3.73 gears. If the donor is a Rubicon Unlimited it will have D44 front & rear with 4.10 gears.

it also has disk brakes, you may need to change your brake lines in the rear for those.

hopefully they leave the hose on it so unscrew hard line at the frame and install new hose from the new axle, bleed brakes and go. It was an easy swap on mine and the e brake cables are different so hopefuly get those too.

Not in my opinion. I got a set of Rubi ones for $2K which had 4.10s and the lockers in them. You can find them if you look around. 3.73s won't get you very far in upgrading tires and wheels, also. You may just be buying axles that you're going to have to put numerically higher gears in later.
If you fill in your profile, we can help you more.

Sounds high for stock axles. And - if they are 3.73s - its going to be a 44 rear and a D30 front (same as you have now....)

If he wants to sell the rear only (if your front is already a 3.73) for $800 or less - THEN its a killer deal.

$2500 for both - not a killer deal.... You could buy a nice, built, locked and loaded rear D44 for that, and have mod money left over.

If you really want to spend $2500 and get 2 axles - you should be able to find a rubi pair for that.
